    Hello All,

Wife is looking to trade her car for a B8 and I have some questions.
1- I know that the B8 unlike B6 uses timing chain and not a belt. Is there a scheduled recommended time to change? B6 is 80K along with the water pump.
2- Is there oil consumption a real issue or sporadic from car to car?
3- Is there any other things that I should keep an eye for?

I traded in my B6 for a C63 W507 engine which I love and has not tried to kill me yet.

Welcome back Manny, I can't answer any of your questions, just glad to see you back.
Hopefully we'll see each other, with our sons, at Waterfest.

Timing chain. There is no Audi suggested interval, but some higher mileage cars have had the tensioner fail. There is an updated part that could be replaced for peace of mind.

Project Quattro put together a great buyers guide thread:

Welcome back! Most of your questions should be answered in some depth in the buyers guide I threw together, which was shared above. Short answers though: the tensioner, at least on early cars, should probably be checked out around 80k miles; yes oil consumption is a major concern and not overblown; there are a few other minor things (listed in the buyers guide) but those are the major ones.

Hey Hey, yeah I am back. Wife got a CPO A4 but I am proud owner of a Mercedes Benz C63. I didn't have the urge to start modifying the old old B6 so I went all at it and got a C63 W507 so no need to modify anything. It was all done at the AMG factory Daimler.
