Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Guys.

I bougth the engine oil dip stick for my 2014 S5. I works well in checking the oil level.
My question is should I leave it in the engine as most cars or leave it off?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Well th edip stick is made out of plastic material and I am not sure if it can withstand the hot oil in the engine. The car came with a plug installed at the dip stick tube.

It won't melt, mines been in stuck in there for like a year now. My Civic has a plastic dipstick as OEM and it's fine too.

The ECS dipstick that I have is made of the same material that the loop plug that was in the crankcase tube. I work with plastics every day and the are some that melt at 600+F. I would not be concerned. jmho

Thank you all for your replied and suggestion.
Just changed oil on my S5 couple days ago using a Mighty Vac to suck oil out from the dipstick tube.
It drawn about 8 quarts where as the manual says oil change with oil filter replacement will take about 7.2 quarts. After I put in about 7.2 quarts, both dipstcik and MMI shows the oil level is a little bit below maximum, so I added a little bit more to get to maximum line.

while this work regarding getting any sediment out? Im guessing gravity and doing it the traditional way by draining from below would allow any sediment to come out also? Or am i just crazy?

ElsaWin suggests suck from the top, I think you'll be fine either way though.
