I've noticed when i go back into the car after period of time and open the door (any door) the airbags sometimes deflate. Is this normal? If so, why would audi configure such a feature?

The air ride suspension Out of context it sounds like you're talking about your actual airbags!

    You mean air suspension?
Yes, it self levels and adjusts for when a door opens and potential passengers.
Sometimes it adjusts while it "sleeps" I think. I know some have mentioned parking with the front bumper over a small curb and when the come back the bumper is on the curb...so watch out for that too.

I think I know what you're talking about.

I would sometimes get a short hiss, like 1 second, when I open a door or something. It's more of a "the system relieving some pressure" sound than "airbags deflating."

I would guess it's normal unless you found your car sitting on the floor VIP style.

I know this sound. I think it sounds futuristic! But I don't know why it might deflate.

I get this sound on my S7, but I've always thought it was the air reservoir in the trunk releasing pressure. I've never seen the ride hight lower.

I usually back in but the one time I parked the way you said, that happened to me. It was just the black plastic piece though.

This thread started very funny. I was laughing hard thinking OP was teasing us. I looked at the calendar to make sure it wasn't April 1st.

Very normal, my S6 does the hissing all the time parked in my garage. Happens when I open the trunk too.

Thanks Gents. It's good to know this is standard operation. Never considered the curb height and that it could drop down on it, but will now. Getting out will be so much easier now too.
