Exclamation ER FMIC install, wont idle + P0411 - HELP

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just installed the Evolution Racewerks sport FMIC kit. Started up fine, drove around and let it warm up, as soon as it was warm, did a 2ND gear pull. As soon as I hit 10psi I heard a loud whoosh sound and the car misfired to a halt. Now it's not holding an idle. Exhaust smells fucked up. And I'm getting a P0411 002 code from my sai. Any advice would be raddddd.

Keep in mind this is a car that has been meticulously taken care of with no expense spared when it comes to maintenance. Only 89k miles. Never had a single mechanical problem it's entire life. Still stock ecu. At least until I can fix this -___- got ME7.5 coming in the mail and I'd like to have a working car to tune.

All my intercooler piping looks fine. I think it may be one of the hoses to the smog pump. Can't see it until I get the headlight off tho. The cars parked about a quarter mile from my house. That's the problem. Also the first time I went back to scan the codes, the car started up and idled fine. Went to take my other car home, walked back, car wouldn't idle again. Gonna tow it with my buddy's truck later.

one of the factory hoses probably tore a hole due to pressure. or popped off.

Unplug the MAF sensor so you can drive the car home and find the boost leak.

OOH, I did not know this was an option on the 1.8T

On my old 12V AAH if you unplugged the MAF...she sputtered or died.

It depends upon which hose you blew off. If it's between the MAF and throttle body you can unplug the sensor and run off of the programmed maps. If you blow something not in the boost track (SJP, PCV, etc ) unplugging the MAF sensor won't have as much effect.

When you hear a loud pop and a whooshing sound it's typically a boost hose.

Usually when I install used equipment I investigate it before going on. Did it look stripped when you put it on? or maybe it stripped after installed on the car? Maybe a kink on the hose, and clamp held on for dear life before it stripped? But glad you were able to find a simple solution to your problem.

One of the threaded holes holding my map sensor on was stripped, nbd tho. Then about 3 of the 10 clamps were somewhat stripped. the threads are fine. Its the threads on the insides of the lock nuts that I couldn't see. Thought it was on tight enough even though the nuts were just spinning. Oh well. Gonna replace the lock nuts on all of the clamps now cause I feel like none of them are tight.
