    Transmission question

I have 2004 S4 and it runs very good other than one annoying issue. Sometimes when I attempt to make a turn (left or right) and accelerate as I straighten up the car seems like it has zero power. I can mash the pedal and the car does not respond but if I let off the gas pedal for a brief second and hit it again it shoots off like it engaged all of a sudden ..... noticble difference. A VAG scan reflects no issues with the car at all (other than the damn driver seat heater sensor being bad) okay venting complete.

Just trying to see if anyone else has experienced this issue and what it may be if anything.

Damn thing is, I have pulled out a couple of times and almost got hit because the darn thing seem to have no power when I attempt to accelerate. It only does it when take off from a corner turn and accelerate fast or slow once I am straighten up. WTF

    manual or auto?

Same symptoms with traction control on and then off? Traction light flash or illuminate?

Do revs change but speed does not.

Always done this, or a relatively new phenomenon?

Need a little extra context to help narrow down the possibilities.

Always done this, or a relatively new phenomenon? I have owned it just over 2 years and it has always done it. I don't drive it hard but from time to time I do get into it a little.

It is a little puzzling the car runs fantastic all the time but when I attempt a turn from a light or corner she usually seems like I need to blip the throttle to make it engage, it is very noticeable when it does though.

No dash lights or codes are set, trans scan reflects no issues.

Unsure, I have not serviced it since I picked it up about 2 years ago. I normally service everything on a regular schedule and this is one of the few items I have not refreshed yet but plan on doing soon. It does not always do this but does enough to make me pose a question and possibly prevent something big before it happens.

Sounds like a hesitation issue more than a transmission problem. What's leading you to the transmission? Is it bogging down like it's in the wrong gear?

I had this same issue with a B6 A43.0 we had and started to sense it in the S4. Changed the transmission fluid and that took care of it. Downshifts and holds the gear properly going into turns.

You can also try resetting the throttle body and see if that helps.

No, it just seems like it has no power when you apply the gas pedal in the middle of a turn and right after you come out of it but when you blip or let off the pedal for a brief second and accelerate again it lunges forward like the transmission suddenly engaged again. It does not do it all the time, I would say maybe 30 to 35% of the time it will do this. I have never had it do it from a straight take off, only while turning or completing the turn do I notice it.

VAG scanning shows no issues but something clearly is not right, like I said I have went to pull out into traffic before and the car would not hardly go anywhere until I release the pedal and re-accelerate. Sometimes it would act like it was not shifting into the next gear until I blip the pedal and then all is normal again.

Just very odd and obviously something is going on but I can;t say for sure it is the tranny but it sure seems to be.
