    Tire Wear

Quick question, I have a 2013 A6 3.0T with around 40,500 miles on it and I am about to put its 3rd set of tires on this car. Does the Quattro really chew through tires like this or could there be an underlying problem? The car is still stock at the moment, hoping to go APR stage 2 after the warranty runs out :). It is my daily driver and I do not track it nor have a heavy foot. It had the PZeros when I bought it and it just chewed through the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3 tires in about 20,000 miles. Is this about average for everyone? Is there another tire that yall would recommend that might give me another 10K miles or is this the status quo? Im thinking about the Continentals, which would yall recommend, I have the stock 255/35 20' tires.

    Thanks in advance.

Its weird actually. My 2013 went through the Michelin PSS in about 20k mi, that included a track day as well. The A/S 3 I put on have accumulated 13k mi and seem fine right now.

My 2014 A6 TDI did not wear that fast. Granted I had dedicated winter tires, but both sets looked almost new at 40k miles.

My 14 a6 3.0 had conti pro stock and feathered the edges pretty quick. Brought it back twice to dealer to check alignment and everything always checked out fine. Traded it in towards the s6 I have now at 17k. Middle of the tires had plenty of meat left but the edges were so bad and noisy, the dealer put new tires on it before they put it out as a cpo. I don't think the conti pros will be much better.

When was the last time you had the alignment checked?

I have not had the alignment checked. When I go in for the 45,000 miles service, I will have that looked at. I am getting a $158 credit per tire from Discount Tires for the Michelin A/S 3 so the hit to the pocket book wont be as bad. Just surprised by the few miles I am getting out of the tires

Really? I just ditched my A/S3 after 20k miles, down to the cords! I wish I would have known this.

I have an S6 with the stock pirellis. I have 23,000 miles on them with about 5,000 to go.

Alignment problem is a likely culprit.

I just called Michelin and Im a day late and a dollar short. Very disappointed in the life of the A/S3 and never knew I could have gotten a discount on a new set. Riding on the new DWS 06 now anyway which I feel more confident with in the snow.
