Need help identifying my 2001 1.8 engine...

I know the first thing most that enter this thread is going to say "what a fool, look at the head ID badge". Well I have and it says AEB. I am guessing someone along the way has swapped on an AEB head or swapped an entire aeb engine. I am wondering what the likelihood of that is and how I am going to be able to tell the difference? It does have a drive by wire TB and not a cable.

I need to be able to tell what the block is as I plan on pulling the engine and going through it completely, installing a new clutch, and then figure out which turbo I want to stick in her (most likely my 6758 but dp and mani options are limited).

I do have aeb engine I could swap in. I am wondering what all needs to be done to make it work as well? I am guessing simply swap over its accessories and your done.

Does it have an external water pump pully and belt on it? If so then its a full AEB engine inside, if not then it could be an ATW or AWM block. I want to say AWM would make most sense given it's a 2001, but I don't know how much work is involved with using an AEB head on an AWM. It could have been just as easy to use an ATW block with the AEB head if they knew they were going to program things out of the ECU, like SAI.

Well that's the silliness of the situation. It has a gt2560r Elim turbo and an 034 intake as well as a well sorted out intercooler setup but all the sai, and other crap is still hooked up.

As far as the aeb head fitting they fit just fine. Just use awm head bolts and away you go.

I will look for the water pump pulley.

Ugh it was a long day at work, and I'm sick so we shall have the be the excuse for my idiocy.

Alright what you got is an AEB head with an 06A bottom end. Versus the 058 bottom end of the stock AEB engine. So for block stuff you want 06A parts and for head stuff you want AEB. Timing belt kit and drive belts would be from the 06A as well.

When looking on websites you would be looking at the AWM (for the 06A) stuff unless you were buying cam seals and what not. Then you would want to buy the stuff listed for AEB.
