Cold weather misfires after 2K RPM accelerates slowly

it's gotten pretty cold in Chicago and my car is starting to give me some problems. i thought i could post my symptoms here to see if anyone had any ideas before i fork over a diagnostics fee to the dealer.

Anyway, i have an audi a4 2009. it's about 10 degrees where i live right now. On Sunday, i drove my car 250 miles to wisconson in 10 degree weather without any issues. On Monday, i went out to lunch, and didn't have any issues with my car but when i drove home from work, my engine started misfiring at 2000 RPM so i could only SLOWLY accelerate. Luckily, i work like .5 mile from my house so it wasn't a problem getting home.

I am going to run the diagnostic tool but i'm guessing it's probably going to say something like engine misfire in cylinder.

2.5 years ago the dealer replaced the pistons in my car, timing belt/chain, and put in a new stock turbo.

2 years ago i replaced my coil packs and spark plugs

The only other issues i have is that my advanced key stopped unlocking the doors for me, i have to use the unlock button the remote and my driver's side heated seat does not turn on, besides that the car runs fine.

Misfire can be spark plug related check your gaps. Also can be pcv valve causing misfire. Side note try to clean maf and check back.

I have a very similar problem.

    09 A4 with 93K miles

    Major services done:
    @ 45K - Turbo Replacement
@ 66K - Engine Rebuild (due to oil consumption problem)
    @ 85K - 2nd Turbo Replacement

I live in Atlanta and it got chilly (def not as much as Chicago) around 20-30 degrees a few days ago. When I tried turning on the car with push to start, it did not turn on. It worked the third time but the car started shaking a little - its never done that before. With a few doubts, I drove about 5 miles until I finally decided to pull over at a gas station and make sure the car would start up again because I was going for a long drive and didn't want to get stranded away from home.

I get to the gas station, turn off the car and try to turn it on again and nothing. Car wouldn't start. Tried a few more times without any luck. I finally tried turning the car on with the key fob, and it turned on the second try. At first, the check engine light started flashing and car started shaking vigorously.

Decided to tow the car to the Audi dealership that same night and heard today that they might need to replace the engine!

Any advice? I'm concerned that Audi will say this is not covered in warranty

Perhaps your timing chain skipped some teeth due to failure of the lower chain tensioner.....nothing that $5000 can't fix....
How often did you change the oil and filter?

So dealer is saying I need to replace the entire engine - they tried to turn the crank physically with a wrench but it only turned part way and got hung up. They want me to remove and replace the cylinder head - 4K or replace the entire engine for 15K! WTF?
