Anything special needed to instal lower springs

In a 2016 SQ5 other than a spring compressor, any non-normal sockets or anything else along those lines? I plan on ordering the springs next month once we get into the new house and want to make sure that when I start this on a Thursday morning that I will be able to get it done in a couple of house and then be able to take it for the alignment on Friday.

    Thanks in advance... Todd

Just clarifying on, "couple." I watched an experienced technician do this install, with benefit of a lift, mighty spring compressor, and air tools, and it took him 3.5 hours. Good luck - I admire the DIY approach. I did my own install on a much easier '07 GM SUV, and that was it for me.

What he said (07 Tahoe) and I have a spring compressor. I just had a local "tuner" shop do it for $475 with an alignment. I walk across the street to a movie theater and watched Star Wars. When I returned after lunch I was on the road.

LOL... fantastic. I love that. I've been on again, off again about doing it myself. I LOVE turning wrenches, but this suspension job is a PITA.

I did my own pulley as well as others, but after looking at several DIYs, I'm second guessing this one.

If time is the only killer I am fine with that, spring compressor is no big deal as I have a air compressor and a impact so I can screw them down pretty quick. Rather save the labor money for other go fast parts.

I installed some KW HAS on my 2011 q5 and it took the better part of 2 days with spring compressor and normal garage tools. I had to lower the rear sub frame a bit (sounds scary but it was not a big deal) to get the rears out. for me it was a PITA and i would not be willing to do it again on my q5. ill pay for them to be installed next time. My background included installing springs on acura and subaru vehicles prior to this too.

    best of luck!
