    New 4.0TFSI engine cover?

I just saw this RS6 engine cover on this site:
    http://blog.benoa.net/2016/01/twin-turbo-v8.html

It's seems to have a new opening/grill over the intercooler, to allow more air flow over the intercooler and the turbo's. I wonder if there would be any benefit doing this, especially to a tuned engine?

The S7 4.0 Audi v8's use a water cooled intercooler solution, I don't believe that has changed in the performance RS versions.

I think the cover you have linked to is a "show" cover. The official Audi RS Performance pictures show the engine with a regular engine cover, but with carbon accents. No cutout on the front portion.

Yes the intercooler is air and water cooled. It's under that silver plate you can see in the cut away of the engine cover, in the above link. It's a very compact heat exchanger and the performance RS uses the same system.

The pictures in that link are a standard RS, and I can't understand why it would be cut away to show anything. It has to be for air flow around the turbo area.

I can see the logic for the cut out and the deeper channels in the cover, as you said it may direct some airflow up and over the engine towards the two top, rear mounted turbo units.

Whatever way you look at it, to get this level of performance from a road going car is just insane. Shame it's too wide to fit through my garage door without rebuilding the garage
