B6 S4 front brakes fit on a C5? If I had the carriers is it a direct bolt on?

    Hi,

Just as the title says, if I have B6 S4 calipers, carriers and rotors would it be a direct bolt on for a c5?
The calipers are the ATE FNR-G60 found on the 2.7 allroad but the rotors are 345mm as opposed to 312mm

Please don't castrate me, im not an expert but im trying to learn. So far I know that offset might come in to play and that I would need a carrier adapter if I did not get the stock carriers, but I can get the stock carriers, I just don't know other details :/

    Any help would be appreciated.

You need the B6/B7 S4 calipers which are bigger. Otherwise they will bolt up with the rotors and pads.

B6 and B7 S4 use FNR-G60. Possible differences include upright (known to be different but how does that relate to carrier mounting points?) and offset.

I believe the newer Allroad, a6 are still different than the b6/7 s4 ones. But b6/7 calipers, carriers and rotors are direct bolt in for the Allroad , thats what I'm running on mine, pretty pleased considering the cost and how well the car stops

All I can tell you is that the ATE Calipers brackets on the 2.7T C5 Allroad are different from the B6/B7 calipers to account for the larger rotor. The 2.7T caliper bracket is set up for the 320 mm rotor. Its possible the caliper is the same, brackets are definitely different.

    The carrier is indeed different.

Thanks for the confirmation Mike. Looking forward to Carlos taking these off my hands! Lol.

So assuming that the carriers line up to the knuckle correctly which I believe 4rings said they did the dilemma I am running into now from what I can tell is going to be bolt size of the carriers:
    S4 size 14x1.5x38 N-908-768-02
    A6 size 12x1.5x35 N-907-085-04

It looks like ill need some type of shim that I can slide the bolt through but will also fit the carrier diameter.

    Or

I could have the bolt S4 bolt re-threaded to M12

    Thoughts?

The M12 bolt is the rear for the S4.

The C5, B5,B6 and B7 platforms all use the same M14 bolt in the front.

Ok, I just searched for the past hour and a half and could not find any info regarding this.
The only thing I found showed that the S4 rear was M10 LOL FML that confused me even more :(

At this point I'm going to stop keeping this info in my head and just jot it down here to my understanding.

If anyone can answer this stuff great, if not ill update when I get definitive answers.
    1. What is carrier bolt size for 2005 B6 S4 front and rear, what is carrier bolt size for 2000 A6 Avant C5 front and rear? So far im hearing the fronts for both are 14x1.5x38
    2. Do I need the brake rotor screws that hold on the rotor? I don't think I do as I believe the C5 knuckle does not have this drilled to accommodate the screw.
    3. What is the thread diameters for brake lines on the F/R caliper and car for the B6 S4 and C5 A6, or which type should I be looking for? I have to research this more still.

1a) fronts are all the same across all vehicles you listed 1b) idk
    2) no you don't need that, I think the C5 has that for the front but it's 100% optional.
    3) get the same brake line fittings that you'd get for your factory brakes. It is my understanding that only monoblock calipers have a male brake line fitting at the caliper, all two piece connect to a male hard line mounted on the caliper.

To answer your OP. Yes, B6/B7 S4 brakes will bolt up to your narrowbody A6 (or allroad).
