    Question EPC Light due to cold weather...

    So I have been having issues with my car due to cold weather. I have noticed that when it gets cold out( Below 0) My car starts a little slower as per expected, but it also kicks on the EPC light. Now I have a check engine light on, and it's just coming up with a couple different codes.

    P0171- BANK 1 SYSTEM TOO LEAN

    P0507- IDLE AIR CONTROL SYSTEM REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE HIGHER THAN EXPECTED

    I had the same issues before minus the epc light..., and I ended up changing out the PCV, and everything went back to normal... Now it's returned! haha any help is appreciated :D

    So colder air has more oxygen, and if this happens you may run lean for given the same amount of oxygen. I would look into the MAF or O2 sensors.

    Nope there isn't a tune done, only thing I've really done is k&N. But it wasn't anytime recent. I'll take a look at maf and o2, and see if this is the issue

    I have had this before. I wasn't tuned at the time also. I would turn the car off and restart it and most of the time it would at least allow the car to run normal. It would go away on its own and I haven't had the problem since I have been tuned. I just chalked it up to it being cold.
    What ever makes sense go with the opposite and you got it

    Spike, Hopkins here. I got the same two errors two weeks ago when it was below 0˚ every morning. Mine was the cheap-ass aftermarket PCV valve. See my thread here:

    If it's not the PCV, tolerances do change when it's cold, you might be sucking in air somewhere else.

    Not sure about your EPC light. Saw mine this morning, but I was hard on the throttle on a piece of ice.
