Need new HID fogs, any companies better than DDM Tuning?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ive had DDM fogs for a few years and they finally crapped out on me. Looking to see if anyone has experience with other companies. Wondering what good options are out there besides DDM.

Check out USP motorsports. I have their kit. Never had an issue what so ever. I previously had a xentec kit and had nothing but problems consisting of bulb out warnings and blown ballasts. My friend has the USP kit as well and has zero issues. The USP kit was noticibly brighter than the xentec kit as well (even with the same bulbs installed, I guess the ballasts are stronger on the USP kit). Price is pretty reasonable as well. I think it is under $100.

In order for them to replace the failed components, I would need to send them in for inspection. To be honest I didn't feel like removing the bumper more than once so taking it off once to remove them and then a few weeks later when they send the replacements didn't sound ideal. Id rather purchase a whole new kit. Especially since DDM now carries what they call "better" Ultra kits that are supposed to be more reliable. If they send a replacement it will not be the ultra ones.

Me too. I'm hoping to hear from someone that they have in fact used them with no problems and no bulb out warnings.

Not too impressed with the fog lights. For fog lights to perform their intended function in inclement weather they should be amber or yellow, i.e.. less than 3000K. This greatly reduces glare that is so problematic in rain and snow conditions and greatly enhances depth of field for the driver, making driving safer for both the driver and the oncoming traffic.

From what I have found online and read, the LED's are only brighter when the housing was designed for them. HID seems to be a better option for our fogs. I was lucky to get a deal from DDM Tuning on a set of their "ultra" or premium HID's that I will be swapping in. Their can-bus kit doesn't throw any bulb out errors and their 35 watt bulbs supposedly put out 340 lumens each.

Yes, there are. There are available amber H11 LED bulbs that work well, better than most all the HID fog options I've seen, but you will need to use a resister in the circuit. The bulbs usually are cheaper than HID too. I have seen a few properly designed HID fog systems (i think it was called XenTec or something like that). It had a good low light pattern so it was less apt to blind oncoming traffic as most HID fogs do. Unfortunately, I think it came with 6000 degree bright white bulbs which you do not want. Don't know if they had a yellow bulb option.
