    2011 S4 Power Saving Mode?

    Hello all,
I've been a member for a while now, but more like a fly on the wall soaking up valuable info from all the experts that post here. I haven't had any real cause to post any inquires because usually I find what I'm looking for pretty quickly with the search feature...that is until recently.
Problem1: About 2 weeks ago I noticed that my coming home/leaving home exterior light feature wasn't working as normal. It was dark and the when I unlocked the car with the keyfob the doors unlocked, the hazards flashed but my DRLs and fogs didn't turn on. First, I checked the light switch, it was set to auto. Then I checked to make sure the CH/LH feature was set to "on" on the MMI, which it was as I have had it set since I bought the car and I haven't changed it since. I locked the car and tried again but the same thing happened. Then I turn the switch from auto to off then back to auto and this is when it worked. A week passed and everything worked fine but the problem returned last week. When the car is on I place a rag over the light sensor and the headlights come on as expected every time and go off when I remove the rag, so I'm not too convinced I have a bad sensor.
Problem 2: Some time last week when leaving work I noticed when I got in the car that my radio was off (Audi logo screen on MMI display)when I started it. I never turn my radio off so it seemed a bit strange to me. When I push the radio power button it comes on immediately. Since then every time I shut the car off for at least 5 minutes I'm greeted by the logo screen the next time I start it. I also notice that my trunk interior light turns off much faster than it usually does when I have the trunk open after I shut the car off, about 3 minutes as opposed to 15 or 20.
My question is, does anyone think these problems are related or has anyone experienced these issues? I'm wondering if these are signs of a dying battery and the car is going into some sort of power saving mode. I've checked the battery voltage and it reads 12.2V when the car and all accessories are off, 13.7V when it is on and idle. I believe these numbers are fine for a healthy battery but I could be wrong and I haven't changed the battery in the 2 years since I've owned the car. I'm not getting any errors or warnings on the dash.
If there is a thread out there that has covered this that I've missed, my apologies for the double post and I'd appreciate some direction to it. If not, your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Fully charged battery should be about 12.6v.

If you have a multimeter check the battery voltage with the ignition on and without the car running.

Turn on the radio, lights, etc and observe that the voltage drops and stabilizes. If after a few minutes the voltage keeps dropping towards the 11volt or below range the battery could be approaching the end of its life because it is unable to sustain a load without alternator support.

    Good luck OP.

Thanks for the replies. I'll check the voltage again and report my findings.

Checked the voltage with the ignition on and engine off. With the lights and radio on its at 11.8V. Within about two minutes I got the low battery message on my MMI telling me to start the car. I guess I found the reason. Thanks cW6mT....

my 2005 A6 started doing the same thing once my battery started going. Same exact symptoms, I think it shuts off all none essential items so that the car can start.

Check battery status with vag-com (quite useful)
Hi there, as some of you know I´ve been having problems with my battery level lately( going down ), so I thought it was time to take a deeper look into this with my cable, the thing is that I discovered some intersting data which proves my battery is far from its best...I would like to check my results with any of you if possible. To check the battery condition on your cars you should do the following thing:

    Go to MODULE 19 (CAN-GETAWAY)

    MEASURE BLOCKS-Select GROUPS 18,19 AND 20

You can enable the battery meter function also and then can check it through your MMI.
My battery was replaced last year on mine. They only really last about 4-5 year in my experience.
