2010 A4 "Low Oil Pressure - Turn Off Engine

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Got the dreaded "Low Oil Pressure - Turn Off Engine" on my display. I checked the oil pressure at idle = 20 PSI. Slowly increased the RPM's to 2,000 and the oil pressure stayed at 20 PSI. However, when I gunned it the oil pressure jumped up to 45 - 50 at 2 to 3,000 RPM's. Anyone have any ideas on whats going on? Thanks,

It appears to be the pcv value. To check I started the engine and tried to remove the oil cap, which I could not do.....to much vacuum pressure, which I am told is the result of a bad PCV valve. Ordered a new oil separator, will advise if this fixes the problem. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for posting this. I'm getting the same error message. I'll subscribe to this thread to monitor results.

Easy thing to try, to determine if the PCV unit is bad:
    1) With a warm engine (warm oil), shut it off and goto the next step.
    2) Remove the PCV hose from the intake manifold, and then block-off the nipple on the intake manifold. (You could take a plastic bag, put it over the nipple hole, and wrap some electrical tape around the nipple to hold it.)
    3) Start the engine, and see if your low oil pressure warning is gone. If it is, your PCV unit is bad (ruptured diaphragm in the pressure regulating valve section).

Had the same issue come up not while ago for me, so what I did was, I went to Audi stealership and ask for the part number and bought it from them separately for $90.

Replaced it for my self rather than paying $360 for stealership to replace it for me.... Issue was gone and engine was running with no problem.

A little more reading, I found this. I'm taking mine to Audi to have it fixed at no cost.

Had service done this morning. In and out in an hour at no cost to me. And a got a car wash out of it too. My MPGs had been shitty recently and idling rough, so I'll report back about the results.

I was driving on highway the other day and msg said low oil pressure turn off engine. it threw codes P2187 and P12A2.
the oil cap had lots of suction when I tried to remove. I replaced the PCV valve today and it made no difference.
I am wondering what to do next? is there a way to check the oil pressure? what else other than take to shop?
