So it would seem that most of the time the 2.8 owners are going to either swap to a 2.7t or put a pes g1/g2 on their engine. Take into mind this is just brainstorming and price isnt the main factor, powerband and torque curves are. Had an idea when i was looking at 4rings intercooled and modified g1 setup with a built block. The Stock g1 is a very small sc so will be limited in the amount of boost it can put out.

4rings upgraded the blower to a 1.3l i believe. After going over the differences and similarieties between the 2.8 and 2.7 blocks making the 2.8 boost ready is not that much of a challange for those of us who have done an engine rebuild before. The 2.8 heads get swapped all the time so those are fine. The pistons have to go before anything (9.1cr) and the rods are the same as the s4 so are good for around 450ft/lbs according to my research. The rod and main bearings in the s4 are better so those would need to be swapped as well.

Both engines could receive the 3.0l stroker rotating assembly resulting in a more of a torque based motor. While yes I am aware that putting the pieces together and tuning the engine are a different story. An 2.7t wire harness and ecu could be swapped if need be (034 confirms this to be valid for built single turbo 2.8s). However a modified g1 tune could work perhaps. However again the blower is the main area of concern, needs to be intercooled for a high hp setup and efficiency should be a factor too. I get that the turbo setups are the absolute best so lets keep that out of this thread. Now onto the interesting stuff....swap the roots blower to a procharger.

Take in mind, I have never seen this done so its just an idea, but more top end power to compliment the low end torque from the stroker, has its own sc oil supply which is beneficial to the 2.8 owners who dont have turbo coolant/oil lines, A custom mounting bracket would need to be made (easy in my case) along with intake tubing and intercooler. I just want to hear peoples thoughts on such a setup and while nothing will beat the built 2.7t it could be a good alternative to those who dont want to deal with blown turbos or the other complications of turbocharging, not to say all setups are a pita. Im just interested because this would have a very different powerband of any other setup to date. Sorry for the long post I just want you readers to know that I have looked a lot of the details to date that would be involved in something like this.
