    Straighpipe?

I am thinking of straight-piping my car. It's stock as of now but I'd like a little more sound without breaking the bank. What would be a good price for a dual tip cat back straight pipe.
    Thanks!

p.s. I want a dual tip because I want it looking as stock as possible.

Straight pipe sounds like doo doo. You'll lose more friends than you gain. It won't make you cool.

I have a single three inch straight pipe, made it myself for $75. I actually really enjoy it. It's a very low rumble out of boost and really isn't too obnoxious and then sounds like a damn racecar when you're WOT.

3" down pipes and a single muffler cat back is loud enough. Some people think that's too loud and go dual muffler, even that set up is pretty loud. Straight pipe is just obnoxious and not needed.

No stage 3 k04 car will be restricted much by mufflers with a proper exhaust. I wouldn't be worried about flow at that power level.

I had a single 3 inch with 1 muffler I went back to a dual because it's my daily. I couldn't imagine straight pipe, you would need ear plugs!

Yup, I feel horrible when I work early and fire up my catless twin 2. I don't even touch the gas, use the high idle at startup to get myself out of the driveway and neighborhood ASAP.

I had a 3" inch straight pipe. It sounded like an exctioc race car. But the cops here in small town did like it. Or did my 11 year old daughter who wants to sleep till noon every day. But now with a turbo muffler on there it sounds good. It has a great sound and the cops don't mind

Yea my neighbors hate me. The s4 is loud. Porsche is loud. And in the summer I drive the '31 ford streetrod to work. 429 cubic inches, big lumpy cam, and side pipes straight off the headers.

There is evidence to suggest mufflers actually increase flow due to decreased turbulence.

Forget who did the testing but a big name muffler company is all i really remember. I'm sure the info is out there if you search for it. I think they're referring to exhaust systems on street cars though, its not like hood exits are going to flow more with mufflers.

Not necessarily for poor people. I previously had an APR cat-back which was pricey, but it was too quiet. Now run straight piped 3" w/ piggies and it puts a smile on my face every time I drive. Just my opinion. I've had multiple compliments on how it sounds.

I was just going to post this My roommate has a straight pipe and it's extremely loud but sounds amazing. Trick is to use thicker piping so it doesn't sound like raspy doo doo

If you're keeping the cats straight pipe isn't that bad, but if you're removing them just get the SSAC exhaust you'll be happy later .

I have 3in dp's with full 4" back to one muffler which is almost a resonator(vibrant 4"inlet to dual 3" outlet). Definitely not for poor people consider how much it cost to make but it is EXTREMELY loud. I like it because I'm used to loud cars and I've been in louder. If youre stock and jump right to a full straight pipe with no mufflers you probably wont like it, it will be too much. If youre using stock downpipes with cats it will be a bit more bearable but still pretty damn loud.

I have 3" non catted, non resonated downpipes to 3.5" single pipe with a small resonator in the middle.. is that considered "straight"? ...and I don't consider myself poor.

To be fair, it's hard to get a true idea for how an exhaust sounds through those based on different cameras, setups, etc etc. But that thread has a ton of info in it.

As for my opinion, I have SSAC catless non-resonated downpipes and twin 1. Surprisingly tame when cruising but is pretty damn loud when on it. I can only imagine how much louder it'll be at higher power levels.

Out of all these, with one is the loudest? I don't want tame, I want loud.

The first one listed, but the Twin 1 option which is just the single muffler.

Not only do I agree but I too have the same setup. And yes, good low idle(except when cold ;P) and for me, 3800RPM is that sweet spot for ear sex

3,200-4k rpm is such a good spot for the SSAC setup. The thing that gets me about the Twin 1 is you forget how loud it is since it's really very civilized in the car, especially with the windows up. However, in a tunnel/parking garage or with the windows down, it sounds beast.

The other week, I was driving behind my brother at hwy speeds and got on it. He said it sounded loud enough to wear he though a loud car next to him or in front was taking off when I was still behind him.
