Can you guys point me in the right direction on upgrading the speakers all the way around? Its the bose set up but the head unit has been swapped to a bare bones JVC. I plan on changing the head unit for something better. But what I want is loud clear speakers. Any website links will be appreciated. I dont know a ton about car audio but i can plug wires lol. Thanks in Advance

I highly recommend the speaker setup I went with. The only change (which I have yet to perform) would be a sub upgrade to fix the junk Bose unit.
It's definitely a lot better in the higher frequencies but needs a good sub to balance out the lows.

I have no idea what effect your headunit will have on the sound, I still have the stock unit.

+1 for the infinity. They make a great 2 ohm speaker which is what the Bose amp needs.

For Bose I would think about a five channel amp. It can run the fronts, rears, and a sub with all the crossovers built in.
I have stock non-bose fronts. In the summer I installed some off-the-shelf kicker 6.5 2-way in the rear deck. I was running them off the dinky little stock amp that ran the stock rear speakers. Then on labor day I scored some Bose rear door panels with some sweet Phoenix Gold 6.5 2-way for half price at the junkyard. I just got around to installing them this weekend with a Jenson 200w max amp that I got off CL for $10 bucks. I wired the rear deck speakers and the rear door speakers in parallel so its getting 75w rms @ 2 ohms full range. It sounds killer. Super clear and crispy with some ok base. Its a good amp, but not great. I think Rockford Fosgate and HiFonics make great amps. Before the Jenson I bought a used old school RF 160.4 for $40 bucks. It sounded way better than the Jensen on those same four speakers. But it quickly fried some transistors. Not Im trying to fix it DIY style. There are lots of forums and opinions about amps out there. You do get what you pay for. And its risky buying used stuff but it was cheap.
Now I cant wait to get front separates and maybe a sub eventually. Ill probably get 5 1/4 Kenwood seperates from Crutchfield for the front. Something in the 100 to 150 watt/dollar range. I read somewhere they can be installed with a little re-work.

That wheel well is pretty cool. Cool to see all the details in one place.
In some cases a nice aftermarket HU will sound better because the low level outputs are better matched for amplifiers impedance and voltage. Some people get ground loop problems and alternator whine when things are not grounded well. I tapped into the low level outputs from the stock HU and it sounds fine with my amp. I wouldn't mind a double din DVD with preset EQs.

Yeah I love Wheelwell, it's been great seeing them grow over this past year.

I would love to redo the whole system with new speakers, amp(s), wires, and h/u but I don't want to do all that interior work.

I actually have ground loop and alternator noise with the stock headunit as someone botched all the headunit wiring at some point before I bought it.
    It's on my to-do list.

Eventually I will but the setup I'm running now is great for anything but hip-hop/edm (where the Bose EQ really... blows).

Ive got a pioneer 2500 touch screen bluetooth headunit. A good quality head unit is very important. For speakers i have stock front doors, and deck, jbl gto 528's in the rear doors. (jbl and infinity would be my two choices as they work great with the factory amp, jbl is a little more acoustic over the infinity) and a alpine type r 12 in the trunk. i cant get the speakers to distort other than the sub as i have only like 150w going to it.

If i were to go all out, id do jbl gto 509c and 609c. 509 in front, and 609 in the rear. And possibly deck, or just higher range subs. Then the 4channel gto amp, (speakers have good crossovers with them) and a 12inch type r on the 1000watt rms jbl amp.
