anyone know of any coded Keypad security systems to start the car?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
i know this concept is a little stupid, and we have all seen it in the transporter movies.

but my 2013 S4 was stolen out of my gated garage last week. how? i do not know, but its gone.
thankfully insurance is replacing it, and thankfully my Armytrix exhaust was not on at the moment.
anyways, I'm looking into ways to make sure this does not happen again.

so if anyone has heard of a coded type of security system, or anything else that is known to be helpful for audi's, it would be much appreciated if you could share it with me

    thank you

Assuming you checked and still have all your keys and valet key?

Either way sucks and good thing insurance is covering everything. I haven't heard or seen of and specific technology, but im sure it's out there. Your car have the advanced key?

Closest thing I know is APR's valet system when you tune the car.

As mentioned, some tunes come with an immobilizer/kill program whereby you need to insert a tune switcher into the OBD port and optionally even enter a pin. It seems redundant because the keys are supposed to be coded, but it's another layer I guess. Seems like a hassle though.

Gotta wonder if they stole it by flat bedding it.

Yes the APR tune has a lockdown mode that requires a pin to start the car. However, warranty...

I'm assuming they stole one of your keys. Without *very* invasive procedures by someone that knows the systems intimately, there's virtually no way to steal a car with the intelligent key system like the new Audis have.

yes, i have all my keys and etc. Cops said it was most likely stolen by valet who took a electronic digital copy of the key while i was eating and then had someone follow me home.
definitely looking into the apr tune, wasn't aware it had a immobilizer with the tune.

Also has anyone heard of the "iBlue immobilizer smart security system"?
seems to be a smart phone product that lets you punch in a code on your phone to start your car, supposedly apple and android have said good things about it.

The main reason I've NEVER had any vehicle valet parked. I would have no idea what someone would be doing to my car, and then you have the issue with which you were a victim. I'm sorry to hear that. I've had a vehicle stolen before, and it makes you feel very violated. Anyway, I don't mind parking my car, because I'm also one of those guys who will park my car out of the way, to avoid door dings and such.

bumping this older thread because I was reminded of it by this article I just read. Explains another way thieves are stealing cars (yes there's crime in Canada)

    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/...ticle28226997/

-Employees at shipping yards record the VIN and key info before it's even delivered to the dealer
-They get a key cut using the info they recorded. They have an electronic gizmo that lets them program keys.
-In this case, they had an accomplice at the government licensing office providing owner information, and then go find the car.

There is absolutely no need what so ever to copy keys or steal keys any more. Your car can be started using a laptop and the obd port in under a minute. I believe that Audi are one of the easiest along with ford and Land Rover. The thieves effectively create a key there and then in no time at all and off they go. I've read that your alarm doesn't start to sound for 15 seconds either in which time the lap top is plugged in and the alarm is disabled. People are moving the location of obd ports, putting a switch in between or making the port removable. Over here in the uk it's been going on for a while and supposedly mainly by Eastern Europeans, I'd be very surprised if the technology hasn't reached the USA yet

    That is pretty crazy.

Would be interesting if there is an easy want to put in a toggle (kill) switch that you can have hidden to add an extra layer of protection. But, if people really want your shit, it seems pretty tough to stop them.

Many years ago I was installing a keypad system for security. You simply reroute the ignition wiring through the keypad and without the code there is no completion of the ignition circuit. Much like the Revelco system however a key code not a physical plug. havent done one in 15 years so no clue whats out there now.

Looke pretty much like this unit http://www.autotoys.com/x/product.php?productid=10665

Quick google search and this looks like the unit in that Mazda video http://www.ermtelematics.com/multifu...icle-keyboard/

Its fairly easy to add in a kill switch, i put one in my previous car, actually used a stock button on the dash, you had to press it 3 times before it would enable the starter circuit. No different than adding in an aftermarket alarm, and remember its only as effective as how well it is installed.

my b5 s4 i had a RFID switch in that, where i had to have a fob near it for that one to start.
