Ideas for Garage Workbench Mod...

Just had this workbench completed and i still need some wall tool storage, any suggestions? I know the standard hooks in particle board are an option, just want to know if there are any other more elegant or efficient options out there. Thanks!

I put up some of these cabinets from Ikea, smooth lacquer finish, seem good quality. I store my detailing supplies and products in there. Not sure what tools you're storing, but cabinetry is an option if they're not to be hung.

I've been happy with Flow Wall products, I have not used their cabinet products however I've got their hook systems in my garage and other utility rooms in my house. The wall panels make reconfiguring easy and the hook selection is versatile.

Custom job by a local carpenter. I may ask him as well about some ready made products too.

That looks so nice, I wish I could do my garage. Maybe one day! I have a detached garage, and live in a very heavily wooded area. I've had some water leakage from the foundation in heavy rains, disappointing as I had the foundation waterproofed a few years ago and new outside drains installed. Plus the spiders. I've seen some garages with those plastic floor tiles, but they seem to warp easily and don't have a very high end look like yours does. One of these days I'll finish off my garage..........

the floor i did on my own, took a couple days. epoxy coating, it's very durable, will outlast us i'm sure.

- Would you do anything different like use a diferent product, color, more or less flecks, etc

I used pegboard for tool hanging and Elfa shelves for bin storage along with NewAge cabinets for storage. I also considered Slat Wall instead of the pegboard.

- Which garage floor epoxy did you use
- What sort of prep work did you do
- Would you do anything different like use a diferent product, color, more or less flecks, etc

If you buy some epoxy make sure it's 100% solids only, those are the best and longest lasting products out there. They are also the most expensive for that reason.

I prepped the floor by grinding it down with this tool. Diamond tips that grind away a thin layer of concrete to remove all contaminants on the surface so the epoxy will bond well.


Personally i should have used less flecks that i currently have. It's a bit of an art to get it to look good, but you either go lots of flecks or a little generally speaking. Some people do lots to make the surface really rough, but i prefer it a bit smoother.
