    2008 Audi A4 Cam Follower

I've been a lurker for awhile and This is my first post so sorry if I'm doing anything wrong.

6 months ago I picked up a 2008 Audi A4. The last owner was a friend of mine and he didn't have it for very long before I bought it. Before that I'm not sure and I'm not sure what maintenance was done. I got the timing belt done immediately at 87k. It's at 93k now and I've been reading around here to make sure I know what to look out for. I've been reading about the cam follower and I honestly don't know if mine has been replaced before. I've been considering doing it myself.

What should I look out for when replacing it? I know the fuel pump and the camshaft can get worn out also if the cam follower is worn or broken. How would I go about checking if the camshaft is worn?

I've been looking at videos so if anyone has any helpful tips or videos that would be very appreciated.

I'm 18 years old and I have knowledge of cars to an extent. I've done a few things on my other car (1980 Toyota pickup). So if I'm getting into something way out of my league let me know. I'm loving my German sedan and it'd be great on my bank account if I can ease some of the repair cost.

If you don't know if the cam follower has been replaced yet, do it immediately. It's not too difficult, just a pain in the ass - I thought it would take like a half hourish, and I was wrong. I have an 05.5 and did it with two people and it was easier that way to avoid dropping bolts and shit just because of the awkward angles. I did mine at about 48k (right after I bought the car), and it was still intact but I could see where it was wearing and I replaced it at exactly the right time. I'm sure there are a million DIY's/videos out there and probably previous threads.

I just replaced mine this past weekend. I also recently purchased a used Audi A4 cabriolet B7 and I happened to have a good relationship with my mechanic who allows me to get in the garage when working on my cars. Classic was right about a little pain in the arse trying to get to that part but not impossible. Anyways the old one still looked good but now I have peace of mind knowing I have a new one installed. I also replaced my diverter and took it to the next level and replaced the upgraded diverter with the Go fast bits part. That upgrade I am very stoked because the car still had the original old part that was prone to failure. to make you guys salivate he only charge me $60.00 labor and I was learning at the same time. My next project is the darn Air Bag light which recently came on and I already have an Idea what to do for a fix.

I would also replace that diverter imo.
