Panther Black R8 V10plus

This came up for sale at a Jag dealership not too far from me (lots of pics so I'll just post the link):

DAMN that's beautiful. Never seen one in Panther in person before...

...aaaaand coincidentally, I might be buying my wife a '13 allroad from this Jag dealer this weekend.! Can't wait to check out this beast while I'm there, it's a fair bit out of my grasp right now though, dammit.

Kids alter a lot more of your life than just your sleep, so I'm learning :). Worth it though, of course! I guess those add'l two cylinders and gobs of CF will have to wait a few more years. ::sigh::

Check out the allroad on the site too and let me know what you guys think - I'll head to the allroad board too and post it there for advice on things to look out for when we're driving/looking at it. We'll probably keep it for 2-3 years and put ~15-20k miles on it, then sell it privately. Orrr my wife will end up wanting an SUV like usual and the search will continue. I've been trying to talk her into an allroad for a few months now, and this looks like the one with everything I want options-wise , so maybe it's slowly seeping into her conscience?? Maybe??


Edit: apparently there isn't an allroad board?? Would've expected it to be in with the B8 A/S4's at least. hmmpf.

I recently drove the R8 V10 on the track and it is the best thing I've ever driven to date. I find black though tends to hide the lines of the car and provides little contrast with the intakes, grille, etc. My RS5 is black and I regret it, I'm getting it wrapped in blue, but that's entirely subjective of course.

Yes, agree about black to an extent - but this one is Panther Black...which has a whole other dimension of color to it that I'd love to see in person on an R8. True that it tends to hide lines a bit - I have an Ibis RS5 and I wish I could see more definition as well - used to have a Quartz Grey A6 Prestige and I loved the way the QG defined the lines on that car (which aren't nearly as nice as the RS5 or R8 of course).

Be sure to post pics when it gets wrapped - are you going for a Sepang-ish color? Or totally out of the box?

I dunno, the r8 just doesn't tickle my pickle that much. Round, jellybean-like shape might have some aerodynamic advantages, but I like my $200k supercar to be sharp looking.

My neighbor has a Shiraz Red A5 cab, but it looks awful because it's a cab and it's always dirty. It's one of those colors that really only jumps out at you when it's spotless. If I had that color, it'd be spotless all the time.

Only one of those R8 photos really shows off Panther well and sadly it only shows one dimension of it. On a gray day Panther Black Crystal is black. Bring out the sun and take a walk around and you will see Black with deep gold, a Deep Purple and also a Dark Green.
