    Cranks, no start. Help?

Hi guys, my 1.8t b6 just died after rolling out from a stop sign, wouldn't start back up. Left it overnight, tried it again and it ran for 1/2 a second then died. Checked the fuel pump relay, fuel pump is fine too i can hear it priming. I tried pulling out the spark plugs, attached them to the coil packs and turned it over. Couldn't see any spark jumping from the valve cover to the spark plugs. Whats weird is when i have the ignition on, the fans run for 2 seconds, then die down, start back up, die, then start stop start stop for 1/2 a second. I scanned the car and got these
Before all this i replace the crank sensor to rule that out. Any idea why i dont get spark? Checked all the fuses and they are good.

I tried a engine test on vag com, first time it failed at N80 purge valve, and now it says "Requirement for output test not met"
Cleared those codes and nothing came back after i tried cranking.

Battery is fine, have a charger on it for now to diagnose it so its always 12.5v.
Changed all 4 cool packs too.

have you had a ton of rain in the last few days? almost sounds like water in the ECU box shorting everything out. Maybe check there.

Just checked the ecu box. Dry as a bone. Anyone know how to check relay 219? It'll take me a few days to find a new one, rather try to test this one and see if it's ok.

Checked relay 219 and 373. Both click and under 0.03 ohm resistance.

the first lot of faults show injector short to ground - have you checked the wires on the injector plug connectors? these can crack/corrode just like the coilpack harness.

Also, you may have blown fuse, i think the ECM fuse is #29.

I'll check those first thing tomorrow morning. And I checked 29 fuse is fine.
Thanks for the suggestion, keep them coming!

I'm guessing this also. Test all of the engine management fuses(I think there's 4)with a multimeter/12v test light.

    Fuse are 29, 32, 34 and maybe 43

np. I also saw in another thread you mentioned your fuel pump going out - did you get this replaced and if so, are you confident is has been installed correctly? You may need to also check the fuel pump fuse and relay.

I'm no 1.8 expert, but those fuel injectors shorts worry me. If they truly are faulty, then clearly that can cause this issue, but we all know that other issues can cause faults such as that. What about the crank position sensor? Is that something that could cause these sorts of issues? If thats not getting a good reading, then strange things can happen.

I can hear fuel pump priming and checked the relay, all good. Also there's fuel in there's pressure building up in the fuel rail when turning the ignition on.

I replaced the crank position sensor this morning. Thanks for the suggestion, I will trace the fuel injector wiring and see if any things bad.

I hate to even suggest this but.........

Remove the upper cover to the timing belt and check to see if the belt is intact.

As stated check fuses especially #34. Also check the ground cable connection behind the expansion tank for looseness or corrosion.

Good news and bad news. Replaced relay 395, cleaned up the ground screws on the valve cover and behind the expansion tank and it fired right up. Bad news is I'm a idiot for not checking them first.
Edit: swapped old 395 fuse in at it started. Guess it was a bad ground this whole time.
    Thanks crazyquick

Fixing the ground wire makes sense. The relay would keep it from cranking at all.
