    Hood Sensor

I tried searching through the forum, but only found one sort of relevant thread.

My hood sensor keeps pinging that the hood is open even though it is clearly secured. I think I can see where the sensor is, but it looks like it is connected properly.

Is it possible that my sensor is just broken completely?

I read on a different forum that the hood switch is connected to the vehicle wiring harness with a 4 pin connector (connector T4) the "power supply for the anti-theft siren runs through the connector to the hood switch. The anti-theft siren has its own little battery inside it, which means it will work (for a while, anyway) if the connector has been disconnected. You might want to check and see if the anti-theft siren on your car works or not. If it does not work, this suggests that the connector T4 might be disconnected."

Is it possible that this sensor being broken is why locking the car and my alarm system do not make any noise, and instead just flash the cars lights? I had just assumed my battery for the alarm was dead.

    Thanks for any help!

The switch is a normally open contact. If you disconnect the switch from the wiring loom, the car will thin the hood is closed.
Only issue is when the oil level light comes on as the hood needs to show open to reset the oil level.

That, I am not sure about. I cant imagine they would have changed it from B6 to B7, but someone else will need to answer this, or just unplug the connector and try it. Connector is on the left side between the center of the Rad and headlight, near to the edge of the rad.

I just fixed this problem in by B7 A4. It was only intermittent, but usually when it rained which was a clue that it was an electrical gremlin. Not only was the hood open warning light on, but I couldn't lock the car because it would also trigger the alarm (as you mentioned, just the lights but no noise). I took a picture of my old one. You can just barely see the green corrosion right where the wires come out of the sensor.
It's an easy swap and fixed the problem.

Im having the same issue -- how difficult is it to swap hood latches?

Any tricks or suggested tools for disconnecting/reconnecting the cable?
