SD card issue in 2016 A6

I previously had a 2013 S4 that I used the very same SD card in and the MMI was able to correctly play and see all songs loaded on the SD card. Flash forward to the A6, about 60% of the songs are not being seen by the MMI. The file structure was the following: All music in one folder then one additional folder that acted as a playlist. I figured maybe the newer MMI had an issue with that directory structure so I put all MP3 and MP4 files directly on the SD card with no additional folders and what I believe to be the exact same songs are still not visible in the car. Could it be the file types, the car, the sd card? I'm curious as to why it doesn't work because it worked perfectly fine in the S4 then immediately had the issue in the A6.

I have 2 to 3 folder structure on my SD and the files play fine in my A6. I don't have MP4 files but MP3 and FLAC works perfectly. Do you have another SD card to try ?

Another SD card was my next move I didn't have a spare one so I figured I'd try and narrow it down before getting another one. I'll have to give that a try today.

Have you tried reinserting the card? Or switching sources back and forth?

I've had instances where MMI suddenly won't read it even though it's read the file fine on many occasions. The file name on the Playlist shows up but says it can't find the file. I will usually pop the card out or switch back and forth from radio to media and it usually sorts it self out.

    Hope that helps.

Yeah I've tried swapping back and forth between the two SD slots to no avail. I went out and got another supported SD card and it appears to have the same problem. I've noticed there's a very large chunk of music missing. It goes from titles A to L then from L skips to Z and even then there's songs missing in between aside from M to Y.

Seems like I had an issue that was kind of similar. I have my music setup exactly like you did (for my S4: All music in one folder then one additional folder that acted as a playlist). Initially, when I inserted the card I had missing music. I double-checked my songs and I found some invalid characters that seem to have malformed a couple .mp3 files. Once I fixed those it started working. My suspicion is that I had some single quotes ( ' ) that were the culprit but I'm not positive.

Not sure if this is your problem but it might be worth a look.
