Is there any way to retrofit the sound actuator behind the firewall to my B8? Tried searching but no one seems have done this.

I have a 2013 S5. Where is the sound actuator and how do I kill it? Do I seriously have one?

You should have one. Look at your manual, specifically, the fuse section. One of the fuses on the drivers-side fuse bank is for the Soundakator (sp). Identify fuse. Pull Fuse. Done.

+1 it'll say "Soundaktor" or "Sound Actuator" in the manual. Probably Bank A fuse #5 on the driver side fuse panel (check your manual for exact fuse)

you can turn off the artificial sound by pulling out fuse#5 in drivers side first fuse bank. However some say if go to MMI you can turn down the sound and it is quieter than pulling fuse. When I first bought the car, the phony sound bugged me. I made the change through the MMI and now notice only real exhaust sounds coming from the exhaust system. It no longer bugs me.

The only adjustment within the MMI system that I know of for adjusting the Soundaktor volume is in the ADS menu, where you can adjust the setting to "Comfort" within the individual menu. I believe it would still be functional, but less than in Auto or Dynamic setting. I went in through VCDS and turned the volume all the way down which seemed to work. Obviously pulling a fuse is a lot less expensive than buying a genuine Vag-Com cable, though.

I do not have mmi. It was cleaner for me to disable with vagcom. Pulling the fuse threw a code.

The easy part is getting the part numbers from the B8.5 and wiring it into the fuse box. How it connects to the ECU to get throttle imputs would be more difficult to do unless someone has a B8.5 wire-harness diagram. You would need to recode the MMI as well IF the B8 MMI is even compatible. You might have to upgrade to the B8.5 MMI (it has been done on here).

All in all probably more expensive then an exhaust.

I don't have ads on my s5. No "drive select" I hear pulling it may throw a code. Need a vag com. With the sound clapper disabled is it seriously quieter in the cabin?

Could be funny and I would throw down $20 for a goof. But, too bad it's not cheaper.

I know you're asking about the soundaktor, but have you considered an exhaust?

I did not have this experience.

I kind of liked it, too. But I pulled it before i had my exhaust installed after trying all the settings through the MMI and there is def still sound coming from it on the lowest setting. When pulled, the car exhaust note was non-existent in the cabin with no music, windows down or up, even through full throttle runs, save for the exhaust fart.

OP: I know this isn't what you are going for but your best option, and cheapest, might be to check the thread about various exhaust setups and find a very mild one with either a res or muffler delete or magnaflow replacement installed by a local muffler shop rather than trying to hack through all this and retrofit the soundacktor.
