Where to find complete engine for decent price?

I'm looking to purchase a used engine and want to get it at an ok price. I have found some 1.8t for 850 - 1100 going from 74k to 188k, I was also thinking of performing a 2.7 swap, and they go for 900+. What is considered a good price? Thanks you

i paid 1800 for my spare 1.8t that i was going to rebuild for big turbo. it had 80k miles...in California 1.8t's seem to be much more expensive than on the east coast. i have 2 complete long blocks for sale, but they're located in northern California.

Looks like M & M Imports in Fontana have a couple I would call about, including a bare shortblock for $300.

Either way, guys have some crazy prices. Arent the blocks the same as any other 06a block? So many other options out there besides a b6 engine. I wouldnt pay more than $400 for a COMPLETE engine to rebuild, and I am talking all accessory brackets and stuff
