    Q7 Axle nut

I've done some searching and come up empty handed.

I have a new CV shaft for the front drivers side on the way, and I'd like to have all the tools lined up before it gets here.
I know that the bolts holding the inside end of the CV in are Tri-Square 12MM, and I now have this tool.... however...

CV axle bolt.. what bloody size is it? A 32mm 6 side is too small, and a 36mm is too big..
So obviously its a 33, 34 or 35 and its 12 sided... I'd like to avoid buying all three...

Okay, so the job is done..

Because clearly no one cares, I'll post it.

The axle nut on a Q7 is a 12pt 32mm. You'll also need an impact wrench capable of greater than 700 lb ft, penetrating oil, and lots of pressure on the compressor.. it's really on there, or at least it is when there are 200k miles on it.

You'll also need a 12mm tri-square socket with a LONG extension. The easiest way to get to these is to jack the entire front end up and have someone spin the other wheel.
you do NOT need to remove the entire suspension. You need to pull the top balljoint from the knuckle, the sway bar link and the bottom of the shock fork. You'll also need to loosen all the brake lines and wires from the knuckle. (not remove, just loosen) This is about a 1.5 - 2 hour job if you're not in a rush, and if nothing goes totally south. I could probably do the other side in about 45 mins now.

Thanks for the information on the size.
