    Exhaust size convention

    Are exhaust sizes normally referred to by their inner or outer diameter?

    Here's why I ask, SSAC has their system that seems to be advertised as 2.25" and any review I've seen for it has referred to it as a 2.25" system. However, I read an argument between a couple folks where one kept saying it was 2.5". They posted a picture of the pipe with calipers on it measuring the outer diameter at 2.5". Milltek advertises their system at 2.75" but if the pipe wall is 1/8's inch thick and they're talking about the inner, it'd be a 3" exhaust outer diameter. Mind you I've not seen any measurements of the milltek system, I just know that it's one of the systems that an odd size compared to most of the others...
