    Fuck. So this chatter noise developed over the last couple days... Sounds like it's coming from the front of the engine. Any pointers before I start tearing shit apart?

    Sounds like a sloppy CCT. The pads on the tensioners can break down over time, literally fall apart. Whip the VC off and inspect the CCT area!

    That'll do it. Hopefully the lifter bore isn't scored

    He's referring to the circular part of the head that the lifter fits into. If it's scored much, the head will need to be replaced.

    While the heads are apart, may as well throw in some 2.8 cams for some extra oomph lol

    Wish I kept my A4 for that man.. Lol
    Looks like my cars down this month, luckily I took a couple weeks leave at the start of February.

    From what I can see with cams in, doesn't look to be any damage. Ordered timing belt kit and associated tools along with new exhaust cams and lifters. I've never done a job like this so hopefully all will go well..
