Polishing Compound Recommendation for fine scratches

Quite new to detailing and clear coat correction, but can anyone make a product recommendation to take out fine swirl scratches from years of automatic car washes? Any idea what grit should take these out? I have a variable speed buffer and plenty of pads; i've previously used those polishing compounds you can get from your local auto parts store but they don't really seem to do the trick. By scratches I mean scratches visible in light reflections. You don't necessarily see then by looking at the panel, but I definitely see them in bright light reflections.

Meguiars M205 is a good option, it is a pretty versatile polish. I wouldn't categorize it as a 'compound' but its more than capable of removing swirls and lighter scratches but still finishes down nicely.

Here is a GTI I did with just M205 because of the budget, not perfect but MUCH better.

I was pretty happy with Meguiars Ultimate and a DA Polisher.

SF 1500 or sf4000 are my go to. Megs 105 and 205 is also a great combo that can be purchased at any local store

Don't they recommend going to a larger grit polishing compound if oxidation spots don't come out, even light color sanding with 2000 if that doesn't help?

And thanks for the recommendations everyone.

Pics of what you're trying to correct might be helpful as well

Yes, its always good to start with something less aggressive and if that does no meet your expectations trying something more aggressive.

What pads and products are you using? On Audi, I'd look at using a Hexlogic Green pad with Meguires Ulitimate compound. It will make easy work of fixing what you describe. I use it on my wife's minivan which is black and it's great. Hit it up afterwards with a good polish (i use their Ulitmate Polish) and a white pad to bring out the shine. Both our cars are black and I'm a perfectionist, so I also use a white pad and Menzerma SF 4500 to really polish it up as a third step. From there if you're good just seal it up. If it's a daily driver that takes a beating and still has some minor imperfections put a couple coats of a solid quality glaze on their and then seal it up. Should be good to go.
