Misfire on #3-7, huge vacuum leak on injector #5

Car started acting up after a cold day, I noticed it was misfiring and can hear a huge vacuum leak on #5 injector that changes sound when the rail is moved. Hoping it's just an O-Ring. Also another vacuum leak around driver side area around #8

Could the vacuum leak cause all the other ones to misfire that badly? The CEL blinks at idle and engine smooths itself out as the RPM builds. The car had it's timing chain serviced around 80k, 110k on the clock now. Sometimes, the chain rattles on cold/warm start for a second, but it's random and not consistent.

Shop is going to first start with the o-ring on #5, estimate about 4hrs - ~$400 with parts & labor.

edit: I forgot to mention before this scan, about a week ago the car was scanned for codes and then cleared and scanned again. #4 and #5 cylinder codes popped up immediately after being cleared.

really ? seems steep for a simple injector o-ring

Changing an injector o-ring should take all of 7 minutes.

Also make sure all of the intake manifold bolts are tight while you're there, I've seen a couple times where they wiggle loose over time and cause an intermittent lean code.

How are you testing for leaks? You mentioned moving the rail. Are you moving it ans listening for sounds?

I've been wanting to do a vacuum test on my S4 for a while now, but not familiar enough with the system yet. Much easier on the old 1.8t lol

I can definitely hear a huge leak coming from #5 that changes pitch when moving the rail so it definitely is something in there.

Thanks for the replies guys! I would've done it myself but I don't have a garage or the tools while I'm on campus for school. But it seems easy enough to tackle with a set of basic tools.

not just tight, make sure they are torque'd down to spec. If they're all super tight and not torque'd, that could create an imbalance and multiple misfires. I know from when i did my intake spacers install and did not have a torque wrench at first!

Called them back and told them it would only take ~1hr-2hr labor and they still quoted it to be about $500~ including parts...wth?? Looks like I'm gonna tackle this one myself in the cold.

$400 to replace an o-ring on an injector. What a racket! Just be very careful when you pry up/wiggle the fuel rail so that you don't break any of the pintle caps. In fact, if you really wanted to do this job right, you could order a complete injector rebuild kit. With this kit, you can replace the o-rings, pintle caps and filters on all of your injectors for about $50.

Correct me if I'm wrong, guys, but I believe we have Bosch Type 3 injectors.

Thanks for the help! They said they would be replacing all the o-rings, but still that's steep.
