    Hey guys,

I recently picked up a 16 season of audi a3. I've been really enjoying the car since I picked it up, but I have a few questions regarding VCDS(vag-com) and tuning.

I did a few VCDS mods:
    -gauge sweep
    -oil temp
    -lap timer

I browsed several different forums and I couldn't find out how to turn off the amber light in the headlight housing. I plan to eventually get a set of E-codes and I understand this vcds modification is necessary to avoid the bulb out error on the dash.

Also regarding tuning the car, does anyone have the JB4 or APR tune installed? Is it a night and day difference? I'm hesitant towards tuning it since it is a lease. Any insight on this?

    Thanks in advance !

Here are the pics of the car:

    Congrats on your purchase!

May I ask how you programmed the oil temp via VAGCOM? I have a dealer visit next week and would like to ask them to do this, but not sure they would know the coding...

    Cheers.

    Thank you!

It really depends on your dealer. They're all able to do the vcds modifications. On vcds click on instruments(17)-> Click on long coding-> byte 10 and click on the box next to display oil(bit1).

I just got this from the thread with the list of vcds mods.

As far as I've seen there isn't a way (yet) to disable the amber light via VCDS. I also don't think any coding is needed when swapping between US lights and ecodes. There could be some differences though between Xenon and LED housings.

Wouldn't I have a bulb out message ? The euro headlights don't have an amber light, which would most likely need vcds coding to remove the error message. I may be wrong though. I'm just going off of past cars and the experience I had with them.

That's been my experience with previous cars as well. From all the swaps I've seen on here thus far the e-codes are just plug and play, no VCDS needed. Which could also help explain why no one has been able to figure out how to disable the amber in the NA headlights. Benji did a Xenon e-code swap and mentioned that he doesn't think the shop had to do any coding with install.
