bilstein shocks and H&R springs

I'm wondering if anyone has these installed on their rs4. I'm going to put mine in soon and I'm concerned that not being able to use the b5 perches I will get that reverse rake look that I hate so id like to see some pics of anyone that has done this and maybe measurements ground to top of fender? if I need to I can have the bilstein perches machined out a bit so I get the proper ride height.

Doesn't look like the front came up much at all from that angle. Would u happen to have a measurement? I'm just wondering what the actual difference will be. Did u keep all the isolators in?

Yes, I kept the isolators. I'll measure a little later, got to find the measuring tape first

I put H&R springs on mine this past summer, love the new height but one of my struts has developed a leak and I'm considering coilovers. I'd much rather just go with my inital plan, springs now and save $ for the APR TVS1740. Now that I spent all that money, all I can hear is my Dad saying "brakes & suspension before speed son."
-skhan91- Where did you buy your bilsteins? All my searches end with coilovers... Did you have to disable DRC? Did you have any bits rubbing or issues with clearance?

ecstuning had a same for $450 for them. it was the cheapest through them to ship to canada (where i am) everywhere else it was over $550+

i cant advertise here but if anyone wants the info to get the bilsteins pm me the guy also owns a rs4. great guy and I had them in like 2 days at the best price.

I'm also still looking for pics with them installed or measurements. skydude your pic looks great but looks to be a rolling shot going around a bend that might make it look lower than it is when stationary. this how my car sits now, this is stock drc with h&r springs, b5 perches and 10mm spacers all around. my fender gap imo is perfect and don't want the front to come up at all so if I need to machine a few mm out of the bilstein perches I will or lose the isolators.

Here's when I installed my H&R Springs on DRC, couldn't imagine much difference on Bilsteins.

I think It measure 25 3/4 Ground to Fender iirc.

I did also remove the Isolator, however if you swap out the springs for a different setup you cannot order the isolator separately unless I missed something. It comes part of Upper Front Strut Bracket.

My issue is that if that bilsteins have the same perch height as the stock drc it will give it that reverse rake look. That's why we use b5 perches cuz it brings the car down nice and level I just want to see a pic of a car from the side with the bilsteins and h&r springs if I don't like how it looks I will adjust accordingly I just don't wanna have to put the shocks in to find out I have to take it all apart again because it's too high.

Hmm, iirc it will still have the rake. Can't remember the thread but one or two people with the setup confirmed this.

You are correct.

As for the b5 perches. I have them but not sure about everyone else.

That was before I installed the perches, yes.

I had HR springs with B5 perches... and had to replace my shocks..
got the bilstein shocks installed..
picked up the car and the front was high...
the B5 perches do not work with these shocks..

so, I swapped them with H&R coilovers that day...
trust me... spend a bit more and do it right the first time!

And how do you like the H&R coilovers so far?

I love the coils..
the handeling is much tighter than the DRC, and have the car at the height that I desire..
the height was good with the B5 perches, but you'll have to replace the shocks at some point in which case you will raise up the front..
I ended up spending a lot more doing the cheap way (just springs), then installing b5 perches, then installing the shocks, then returning the shocks and installing coils!
I wish I had gone with the coils to begin with!

I cant tell you about other coils as I don't have experience with them, but I do recommend the H & Rs...

I realize that the car will be higher with the bilstein perches. That's exactly why I started this thread. What I need to know is a height with them installed on h&r springs. There's many things I can do to make sure I get the height I want. All I need to know is how much the difference is. So far skydude is the only person with the setup right now but doesn't have a tape measure? I'm not going to buy the coil overs once I figure this out I will share it and everyone that doesn't want coil overs will likely go my route once the drc fails which will be most ppl considering our cars are 8 and 9 years old now.

So if anyone (skydude) or anyone else can give me a measurement ground to fender I can figure out what needs to be done. Even a good side picture I could get a decent guess.

Hi, sorry for taking so long. Fender to ground is 25.5" in front and 25.25" at the rear.

I'll fit it figured out. Off the the top of my head it looks like I need to get it down about 1 cm. I'll do the math and see where I CA lose some height. The bilstein perches have some material that can be machined.
