    CTS TURBO B7 A4 2.0T CATBACK-anyone fitted one ??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Its yet another catback for our B7's ,it may be 2.5 inch all the way but the description on CTS's web/s is ambiguous...
At least it includes the downpipe which is actually stated at 2.5 inch.I was looking at BSR,but alas no d/p for the same kind of money.
Interested in the exhaust note particularly at cruise,2/2500 RPM, Drone ? WRX sound-alike Urgghhh !
Pls tell me if you have a high flow cat with it ( I was thinking JHM for no CEL ) cheers

ambiguous, yes , they told me to look the picture...

Well, this exhaust is well made, easy install, BUT :
    - no exhaust seal
    - no studs
    - no mid-bolt for the 2 mufflers
and double check the clamp size BEFORE installing, they send me 3'' instead of 2.5'', I realized after removing the oem exhaust.

If you buy the CTS high flow catalytic converter, you'll have the exhaust seal and the 3 studs.
Low chance of getting CEL if you took the extension, it's around 20-40$.
No CEL with some tune, it remove automatically one of the o2 sensor code.

    - The sound :

the ''volume'' is really low. You won't bother your neighbor. But the low frequencies ( bass ) are loud.
    No drone at all.
Subaru sound? well not really. Interesting sound for a 4 inline. 2 muffler make a nice harmonic.

I have it paired up with an 034 motorsports HFC and it definitely isn't quiet in the cabin. It droned pretty badly under full vacuum (as in when you're going downhill using engine braking), but that part is better since I cut out the resonator and had a straight pipe welded in. The resonator sits really low (might be due to the HFC, I don't know) and it was scraping on everything until one day it got caught and popped an exhaust connection.

It sounds sweet when you're driving spiritedly, but it's a little loud on the highways under full load (as in when going uphill).

I couldn't get a good seal with the exhaust clamps they sent either, so I spent $50 and upgraded.

You have to remove the aluminum cross bar under the car. This is an other stuff that cts won't tell you.
This is because the resonator is near the downpipe. They should push it to the back a bit, of make it double like stasis.

The resonator don't really sit that low, you have to turn it and it will get up.
But I must say, over 65mph in 6th speed, is a bit annoying, but if you like engine sound, you'll like it.

This is no drone imho, I got worst exhaust in the past with ''bees in the can''.

Set the exhaust before tightening the clamps. Make the muffler sit on block or jack it up with jack stands, then tight.
Clamps are all right imho, SS and strong, just tight it to the hell.

And don't ask cts about the sound/drone/volume level/hp, they will answer you to look on the internet. lol.

Thanks, great responses and as you say Overdose, info from the manufacturers is pretty poor, they tell you little and they should know it all about their products.Praise the forum !

This will work, but you'll crimp your exhaust and it'll be a huuuuuge pain in the huevos to take it off if you ever need to. I crimped mine a bit before deciding to get better clamps.

I forgot about that cross bar...I took mine off years ago after it got bent during a battle with a rock.
