    Metallic pads for RS5

In case any of you have been following my thread on surface rust, Audi recently agreed to change out all four rotors given the very heavy surface rust which both myself, and it seems, Audi, considers ABnornal.

However, they've refused to change out the pads. I can't understand why they would want to put new rotors on contaminated pads. In any case, one should count one's blessings especially since they also agreed (given the distance from the dealer) that I can delay doing this until late Spring/Summer (when I do my annual Costco run) and have it performed when I take it in for my one time courtesy service.

So, since they will be removing the pads to take the rotors out, I told them I want them to give me the OEMs they take off and I'll supply clean pads to go on the new rotors.

So, question, which metal pads do most folks use on an RS5? Thanx for your thoughts

The worlds your lobster when it comes to pad choice but maybe you should consider your environment when making that decision, a sports pad that works well for someone in California may not work well for your cold temperatures. The last thing you want is to press the pedal and nothing happens.

Hawk hps is street pad. I've had no issues in winter months here. Same pedal feel as stock. No noise ever.

Thanx folks and of course James which is why rather than go out and get a set I've always been happy with (KVR carbon fiber with kevlar) I thought I'd ask for advice. Given the extreme climate I live in (meaning winters of -50F and below and summers in the high 80s) are there other contenders than Hawks?

Jimmy, what sets the Hawks apart from the OEM ones? I've never had any brake shudder or other symptoms that some folks had other than the rust, so I'm not looking to correct a non-existent issue but rather to see whether there's a VAR product that could be better than stock.

Thank you again for your thoughts

Hawk has been around a long time. They make a lot of different pads. The HPS is a high performance street pad. Perhaps you can reach out to ECS Tuning. They carry a lot of options for you. Explain to them your temperture concerns and let them give them their opinion.

Thanx Jimmy! Since the work won't be done till May/June I have thankfully enough time to do some research and listen to feedback/comments
