Old vid but a good one.
I spent some time in a boxster GTS last summer on a track at the Porsche Experience center in Atlanta... it went pretty good but my S4 is certainly quite a bit quicker throughout the RPM, especially low end tq... but they are entirely different cars and the Pcar was a complete joy to drive. I'd have me one - prob Cayman GTS. Stock for stock I'd say both will be about same straight line - but the GTS is 340hp vs the one in the vid only being 275... that's a big difference... and stock for stock handling-wise obviously the cayman is much more dynamic and fun to drive.

Do you ever see the s4 it looks beat to a pulp
To OP I tracked Cayman S with goodies and I absolutely love the car's neutrality it's my sports car base line. I can only imagine what gt4 feels like. Hopefully this year I get my hands on one.

    Cheers

I ran with a Cayman S and a stripped/roll caged E36 M3 at a track event in my lowered/tuned B8 S4. Passed them both. B8/8.5s are srs bzns on the track, at least until the brakes overheat! (ask me how I know ).

Just to be clear, it's not that I think B8s/B8.5s would out-do those cars in an actual race - they're too heavy for that. But the combination of virtually idiot-proof handling and quattro traction means that it's much easier to use virtually ALL of the S4's potential, even for a semi-skilled driver like me.

I love that video - such a great discussion of the merits of both vehicles. The S4 is far more practical than my Cayman S and is a great sporty daily driver. My butt dyno says they are pretty similar in a straight line. But the Cayman S is such a joy to drive, especially with 6MT and sports exhaust. It really doesn't matter to me that there are faster cars for less money than the Cayman S, since the driving feel and experience is so damn good. It's also plenty fast for my abilities on public road or even track.

Great video. So many factors go into what is "better", and this video captured that.
    Sleeper factor... and dog smell.
