    SQ5 A/C Compressor noisy - anyone else?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've just noticed in the past couple weeks that I can hear my A/C compressor when I'm sitting with the radio off and it's quiet around me. It's not real loud and idk if most would notice it (I have super hearing), but it's kinda bugging me.

Has any of you noticed this?

so funny, i just sat in my car today after driving somewhere. was stuck in the car on the phone due to the cold. but i didn't want to waste gas so i turned off the motor... now i am hearing the weirdest noise coming from (i think) the A/C. must be the same thing.

In sure it still kicks on/off even with the heater. Mine is on 70 right now.

Someone else check it out and see. I don't wanna make a dealer trip and have to remove my tune. lol

Vw Audi as well as others no longer use a clutch for the ac. The compressor turns 100% of the time the engine runs. They used a duty cycle solenoid in the rear plate to adjust the load or how much it pumps based on need. That's why they have solar sensors and temp sensors in and out of the car.
They do fail very early in life IMO, but usually I replace them for no cooling.

Unless you press the AC button, which turns the compressor off / disengages.
