    Instrument cluster scratches

I realize this has been asked before, but when I searched I wasn't able to find a definite answer.

I read the B8 A4 instrument cluster is very prone to scratching, is it safe to use Meguiars Plastx?

It looks like Armorall overspray on my cluster with some scratches that I can't get off, I tried from the inside but that didn't help.

If for the answer as well. The cluster face on my car has a slight haze I can't get rid of. Been that way since I drove it off the lot.

Might as well spend the extra couple dollars and get the Audi instrument cluster cleaner ;)

I used Plastx to remove some of the scratches. It's not perfect as you can still see a little under certain lighting conditions, but it's definitely an improvement.

I tried it out today, and it worked very well! I had some sort of residue and some light scratches, all gone now.

Which of the recommended products did you end up using?

I use to use plasti x on my G35 cluster. It works great, but doesn't last. You'll have to do it at least once a month. Uses good microfiber cloth.

The key is the cloth your using to clean and or polish it, as well as how you remove the dirt resting on the surface. The plastic is extremely soft and yes, even ordinary microfiber clothes will scratch it. You need to use those smooth cloths they give you with those fine eyeglass lens cleaner kits from the Optometrist.

First you want to mist the dirty instrument cluster lens with a good amount Meguiar's Quick Interior Detailer- Cleaner, just to the point it doesn't run. Then GENTLY "lift" any loose dirt in a straight motion left to right until clean and dry.

Then use a new eyeglass polishing cloth and apply Meguiar's #17 Clear Plastic Cleaner. Then follow up with a Meguiar's #10 Clear Plastic Polish, again with separate eyeglass cleaning cloths. Sometimes these cloths also come with fine electronics to clean the screens. You can probably also purchase them at Best Buy or on line. I think they are a type of microfiber but very fine.

I was given this advice by the Tech Support staff at Meguiar' had good results with this method.

I used The Chemical Guy's V34 to remove unknown substance on my instrument cluster. It worked wonders.

i'm planning to do a good polish and cleaning on mine, and then was going to get some clear vinyl to seal it up, like a big screen protector, will be much better protected and easier to maintain.
