B8 S4 winter tire fitment question...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey all! Just have a quick question so hoping someone can help me out. I have a 2012 S4 that uses the stock 19 inch peeler wheel setup. Well I'm getting winter tires for my car and thought about going down to 18 inch for winter. Anyways I found 18 inch wheels that have a ET measurement of 35. The peelers are 47 ET. I'm wondering if these will fit with no problem or will I need spacers? Thank you for any help.

The lower ET you go, the FURTHER out from the car, your rim will be. The setup in question is 12mm more "aggressive" and from what I've read with other A4/S4 owners, you'll be fine with the ET35. On a side note, I would go with a narrow tire so that it "CUTS" through snow better because you do not want a wider tire width in deep snow.

What is the width of the 18" et35 wheel? My winter setup is 18x8 et35 with 245/40-18 tires (Michelin Alpin PA4). There is no tire rubbing with this fitment, and I am lower than stock ride height:

This season I added 5mm spacers front and rear and still have no rubbing (but the photo above is without spacers). BTW the stock peelers are 19x8.5 et 43, not et 47.

They will be fine! I got 18x9 et35 on stock height. Looks great, no rubbing.

For winter I ran 18x8 et35, 5mm spacer in the rear, and 245/40/18. Slightly lowered and no issues

Thanks for all the responses guys, helped a ton. :)
I knew I shouldn't have trusted my dealership when they told me the ET for peelers was 47 lol

mjr, I appreciate the offer and I will definitely look into that once I know the total cost of the wheels/tires I'm looking at.

This winter I bought a set of VMR V810's, in 18x8 et 45. I considered the et35, but I wanted to keep as much of the tire within the wheel well to prevent chipping the side of the car with all the gravel.

Hey guys, just another quick question...

I picked these wheels out, http://www.1010tires.com/Wheels/DAI+...R3718814104066

As you can see, the ET for these wheels is 40mm and the hub bore is 66.50 (the b8 s4 has a hub bore of 66.6 IIRC)

My question is this, will the slight discrepancy in the hub bore matter? Also will 40 ET cause rubbing on 225/40/18 tires?

Thank again for your help :)

The ET on the stock 18" wheels actually is ET47.

    See post #5 here:

I went with ET45 (vs the ET35) for the winter wheels I (finally) just put on the car. My logic was simply that slightly-in would spray less snow-crud than slightly-out. Of course, that was after much toil and bench-racing via the forum.
