    Lifted rear suspension ideas

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've been searching around looking for ideas on a higher sitting stance. I'm planning on towing my sleds with my avant. I use the term lifted loosely. I wouldn't mind a inch or 2 over stock but stock height would be fine. Here is my issue, stock springs are weak. I'd like something with stronger spring rate. The issue is the Oem rear spring is 1.5in opening. Good aftermarket options are 2.5. I could use a aftermarket spring with a upper threaded mount for Coilovers but what to do for the lower mount? Do you think the spring would stay put on a Oem lower? Any ideas or brainstorming is welcome!

Also at this point I'm stuck with this car so no I'm not trading in for a truck!

    Bag it. Problem solved

But actually though. Air spring in the rear with your spring and will help with the ride and levelling. THIS

Good find! I'll have to see if they have a option that will fit inside our springs. 1.5in opening isn't much 😒

Also I have neuspeed race springs that I think would work if I could space them back to stock height. Does anyone know the diameter of the solowerks rear Coilover adjustable mount?

Over in the TDI club alot of the guys that tow will put in Jetta Sportwagon springs because they sit higher and are a "HD" spring. I bet you could get them to fit. However they may not be that far off from our stock sprints. Maybe you could look at Q5 springs

Lots of ideas in there thanks. Going to ask a few of them companies about some measurements. The metalnerd 2in kit would be slick if the rear would work.

Only thing with the metal nerd is you have to sign a waiver because it's a non verified part. I honestly wouldn't go any higher then the 1.5" lift.

Find a used set of ST coilovers and add some stiffer Hyperco springs in the rear. There was someone on here a while ago selling machined lower spring mounts to work with Hyperco springs.

I wonder who it was that would be perfect because can get upper adjustable mount replacement pretty cheap.

I'm considering having a bottom mount made that would retain a hyperco spring but if some one is all ready making mounts that would be awesome

IIRC, stock is 450lbs/inch. Maybe some 800s?

I guess it depends on the tongue weight of the trailer and sleds you are pulling. The hitch I have is only rated to 2000 lbs, so 600 lb/in springs would probably be fine. I say go for it. Are you buying a 7" or 8" spring?
