    Sirius Radio Trouble...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So, my Sat radio had been working flawlessly since I've had the car for the last year and a half, but early last week, the signal started to become intermittent. The MMI now displays "linking" for extended periods of time, regardless of where I am or line of sight. Sometimes it will receive signal and play music for a few seconds, then back to linking, and so on and so forth.

I've maxed out the number of refresh signals that I could send the radio, and the radio has not received a single one. Called SiriusXM customer service, and its not a problem on their end of course, and they said if the radio isn't receiving the refresh signal, that it is a problem on my end.

Anybody have a problem like this? If so what was the issue?

Have to bring her in for 25k svc soon anyway, just another item on the list of things for them to fix I guess..

    Thanks

I have to say, Sirius seems to have lost signal strength. I never had signal loss until the last couple of months. Happened on my previous car and now also on this one

Did you try the three-button reset for the MMI system? No real issues for my sat radio except it will occasionally search for a signal when I start the car.

I have not tried this yet, but I will at lunch time and see what happens.

I have had this happen before and it was the sirius module loose in my car. I forgot where it sits but its in an inconvenience place.
The dealer should know what you are talking about, but I am curious why Sirius didn't tell you this. They knew right away when I wasn't receiving the reset signal.
It's been over a year since its happened and it's still going strong.

I have read in one of the forums that if you tint your windows it has an affect on the signal. Grumpy your windows are tinted.

That's interesting....I always assumed the Sirius antenna was located in the shark fin housing on the roof. I wonder why window tint would affect reception.

I've never had this be an issue. Pretty sure the antenna is on the roof.

Mine sometimes cuts out for a few seconds even when in clear line of sight of the sky...other than that...it's been flawless.

Dealer said it was the rooftop antenna gone bad, I'm in a loaner until they get the new one/paint it/install.
