    Forge DV spacer won't fit

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!

Here's my DV spacer. It won't fit my stock DV which is a surprise because I never saw any indication on the Forge website or UROtuning that there could be any fitment issues. After some research I've found that this is the DV I have. It's the later model piston design part

So what's going on? It says on the website that the DV spacer fits my stock DV. Is that meant for the earlier model with the rubber diaphragm? Is there a different DV spacer that will fit my DV?

It doesn't seat flushed against the DV and there's space in between. The only way to make it fit is to remove the outer cone of the DV. But that definitely doesn't seem right. So I had my mechanic take out the spacer.

I wouldn't recommend using the spacer either way.

I don't have proof, nor can I say 100% for sure, but I am confident that my forge DV spacer was one of the culprits of my turbo damage from years ago. Improper air movement prevented the turbo from operating correctly and caused an oil leak between the bearings.

Not saying it will happen, just a friendly FYI.

If you want the sound I say do it. I had this same spacer but I don't think my bolts were that long. Anyways, should bolt right in with no problems, although I had the old DV not this new one.

Is it wrong to enjoy the sound a turbo makes? I could achieve it also by doing an intake but those are overpriced for minimal performance gains. This is just a cheap way to hear your turbo purge I don't see anything wrong with that.

The DV effects the car in a negative way. Its not wrong to enjoy the sound, but at what cost?

Also, I made my intake for a fraction of the cost of that Forge spacer. You just need a 90 pipe and a cone filter. If you wanna be even cheaper, re-use the black turbo intake pipe thats already there and slap a filter on the end of it.

I'm just gonna use a K&N drop in filter for the stock intake box. And how would the DV affect the car negatively? It came stock on all turbo models. I think your thinking of a BOV.

^^^^ this does not give you any sound. Take out the stock air box and get a cone filter. That will give you some sound. The spacer will also give you sound, but everyone says it's bad for your turbo. Not sure if that is actually the case, but why risk it. When I had my spacer on it just made a mess with oil because my turbo seals had gone bad (not due to the spacer though)

sounds like a gimmick to me. If you don't the recirculating system in place it will cause your tune to do funny things and may cause idle problems. if you want to run atmospheric then you need a tune and proper setup to do. For what 99.9% of the guys run here they wont see any gains but actually make things bad or worse.

Its not so much a gimmick, since it works and does what its intended to do. Its just not suitable in our application

I agree, but if you have a DV and are modifying it to perform like a BOV, then it is gimmicky.

I was just having fun drawing out this conversation as long as I could lol. Im not particularly a fan of telling ppl to search and look it up, even though they should

Funny thing is my friend has the GFB DV+
on his DV and the the turbo sounds even better. I have a custom
made intakw, once insinstl the GFB dv+ ill put to the test these myths. also our other friend is running the forge spacer the sounds are almost identical.

Theres really no myths here in need of testing. I have the dv+ in my car currently, sounds nothing like a BOV. Ive also had the forge BOV paired with my dv+. Not sure you you guys are getting forge spacer noises from it lol. I too have a custom intake, that will immediately give plenty of audible for anyone wanting more turbo noises without a spacer

Now, the dv+ certainly does have a tiny whistle to it compared to stock, but its absolutely nothing in comparison to a spacer

Did you install anything else at the same time. I put on my DV+ amd there was literally no change in sound after install. Then I put the spacer on and there was noise everytime I let off of the throttle

No, the DV+ was the first install. It definitely increased the 'chirp' sound when coming off the throttle.

I ran the forge spacer for about 9 years. I got the gfb dv+ a few months ago because I got the JHM tune and had never even upgraded my stock diverter valve. When I changed it out I had no tears and I never once had a problem with my car. That's after owning this exact car in Germany, 100's of autobahn drives, Nurburgring, and beating it up around here in the US in different states and different weather. I'm probably 1 of 6 people (I just made that up) on this forum that has had that thing and enjoyed the sound.

I say put it in if you want the sound. I never had a problem with it. Doesn't matter what link you provide, I'm still gonna do what I want and you should too.
