B8 Avant 2011 power steering airlocking its self ?

    hi guys/gals

well decided to buy my self an audi as somthing more pratical than my vauxhall cavalier

    i purchased a 2011 audi a4 avant(estate) 2.0 tdi model about 3 months ago

    millage is abnout 96500 mls

over the past few weeks the steering has become a little stiff with stiff spots (like air in the system)

but ive never done anything to the steering for it to become air locked

i checked the steering shaft between the rack and the column . but its ok with no play (gave it a spray both ends with wd40 anyways)

checked the power steering reservoir and its showing its sitting on max .

now tonight i done lock to lock and it cleared and gave me back the light steering i was used to

took a drive for food and it came back again (done lock to lock and its cleared it again)

ive had all the plastics off and theres no leaks or nosies to say the pump is on its way out

the fluid on the little dip stick looks quite new

have yous any idea why it would be air locking its self . As i said ive not had a problem with it for the 2 months before

thanks again for any help its much appreciated

    kev.

I believe he is referring to a Technical Service Bulletin for 2009 and perhaps 2010 models that were experiencing a stutter in the steering at low speed. if so, this TSB did not apply to the 2011 model since it already has the new hose.

Could also be the intermediate steering shaft binding. That system is self bleeding so there should be no air in the lines. You could also see how new the serpentine belt is. I've seen a worn serp belt cause poor PS feel. (Mostly on 3.2L's) but it might still be worth a look.
