Now FOR SALE $6000 obo - I really hate to do this but I just bought a truck and I have to let this go.
Hi all,

I've been in the b6 forums for a while but a few weeks back i picked up a long coveted vehicle. 1995 URS6. 193,000 miles Paint is rough, but the interior is clean, and its pretty much rust free. Runs strong.

Previous Owner has owned it for 8 years and this is how I got it.

Stage 1 - chip name unknown
Airbag light on due to bad coil
Coolant Temp Gauge Doesn't Work
Brakes - all four really bad. Severely warped rotors, All four have about an 1/8th inch lip on the outside edge.
Front bumper is cracked but a new bumper was included in sale.
6000k HID's
timing belt, water pump and thermostat done at 168,000 miles
New Continental All Seasons
New front Bilstein HD Shocks
Newer POS sensor, cam position sensor, power steering pump, T shaped coolant flange.










So far, The clock Spring has been replaced, air bag light is no longer illuminated. All four rotors and pads have been replaced with Zimmerman rotors Mintex red box pads. All four brake hoses are in rough shape so i have to get those replaced and also the steering line on the frame rail coming off the hydro reservoir is leaking. Once replaced the entire system will be flushed. My intentions were to leave this one fairly stock and drive it as is, but i know damn well that's not going to happen, so starting the progression thread early.

Watch that radiator at that age especially with no coolant temp gauge. These radiators are turbulator style which means instead of smooth tubes passing through they have wavy perforation. The idea is that the coolant is slowed and allowed more time in the radiator for heat transfer. The downside is that they clog and they cannot be rodded and can cause engine overheating with little warning.

Wonderful car though! Loving this old school love here and in the Avant section lately.

Nope, 4 wheel disc thank god.

Yeah, next on my to do list is to get the coolant temp gauge working. I already know why its isn't functional. The terminal on one of the wires going to the coolant temp sensor for the gauge needs replacing. The coolant looks nice and clean in the reservoir and pink as it should be so hoping, the entire system is nice and clean.

The paint looks way better in this picture than real life, but the rest of the car is solid.

Here's what the paint looks like up close. I'm going to make an attempt to correct it as much as possible, but i think its too far gone.

Took it to get inspected at the state facility today, passed no problem. Stopped at a car wash on the way home, since I haven't cleaned it at all yet and the paint is already on the rough side.

I love that thing. Every time you start the car it makes a dial tone beep noise, makes me smile every time. It kills me to think I may need to sell this come spring. I really need a pickup truck and of my three vehicles I think this would have to be the one to go. I kind of wish i wasn't so deep in my mk3 build or i'd get rid of that and turn this into the project.

My brother had an A6 avant come through his job and he grabbed some parts that I need. Swapped out the Climatronic tonight. Now have a fully functioning climate control. The one that was in the car, had a mind of its own.

Pressurized the coolant system to today to ensure there are no leaks. And then did the tfsi coil conversion.

Thank you. Maybe this one can be yours. I thought I could make it work without having a pickup truck and I think that I was mistaken. I may have no choice but to list this for sale soon.

Just me being ignorant, did any C4 sedans/avants comes with a 4.2 in the states?
I'm trying to find a decent C4 (not sure what the easiest/most reliable motor is) for 3.5k to replace my c5 s6 lol...
I am having to learn a new chassis, these urs4/urs6 are pretty slick.

In the US, The c4 a6's came with the 2.8l v6 and the C4 S4's and S6's came with the AAN 5 cylinder 20 valve turbo. From my understanding, the european S4's and S6's had the option of the 4.2

C4 a6 with the 2.8l come with the locking rear diff?

The S6 plus had the 4.2L

The pre-facelift C4 (up to 95) had quattro III with the manual locking rear diff (all S6s). 96-98 had quattro IV but it was an early very and is a BEAST in the snow. Better than the C5 quattro IV iteration. This is largely due to the fact it's programmed purely for grip and not as a nanny to keep you from crashing. It will keep you in a straight line but it will never cut power.

Can a nice C4 of such nature in automatic be had in "good" condition be had for under 4k?

I have two, one was $360 (lol) and the other that's SUPER minty I got for $2,400. 98 Avant and 96 Avant respectively.

An S is a different story, those are rare-ish and tend to hover around 5 for nice ones but sometimes they dip to 3-4k

I've been searching craigslist for a few weeks and haven't found any within 500 miles of NYS other than an audi 900... if you're interested in selling one of the avants in the next month or two I'd be interested :)
I'd really prefer the pre facelift if I ended up finding one..

an A6 avant just went at the auction my brother works at for $125. I was going to buy it but he was too busy to arrange the sale with one of the buyers. Europa Blue with Ecru. I wish that didn't get away.

Got an alignment today, its officially road worthy. This will now go on daily duty for the remainder of the winter.

Maiden Snow voyage. This thing is a beast. Made it through some unplowed streets, drama free. I'm at my gf's house and she lives on the peak of a mountain so she has some serious hills, and this thing handles them like a champ as well and i'm running all seasons. And of course I did some quattro snow drifting.

Thermostat, Thermostat Housing, Multi function temperature sensor, After run coolant sensor, were replaced today and it got some fresh G12 and distilled water at 194,135 miles.

Nope, i honestly wish my paint looked as good as his does. But mine is also for sale. I'm picking up a pickup truck tomorrow and unfortunately my fleet is too large, and the S6 is what i regrettably need to let go.
