car off -> gears work, car on -> no gears

    Herro again azine,

So obviously this is a common symptom of a poorly bled clutch, and I've searched though the forums to see what I would find. I can get all the gears now with the car off, but if the car is on I cannot shift into anything.

Background info: New Fidzanza LWFW & New Clutchmasters FX400 w/ full faced disk, New TOB, New Pilot Bearing / Slave

I've tried bleeding it a million ways, the car is level. I've even tried to use a pressure bleeder but the pedal feel never improves.

I came across this article: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ing-101-by-JHM and I've tried everything JHM recommends.

Could my slave be bad but not leaking? The pedal isn't sinking to the ground and not coming back, but it just feels a little weak. Its the only thing I can think of at this moment... unless somehow the clutch / flywheel / pressure plate stack is at an incorrect height for the TOB to depress? Seems doubtful, as it is a pretty common combo from what I have seen.

    Thanks for reading!

You used the taller CM TOB right? Your symptoms are the clutch is dragging so it's either the slave, TOB or how the system was bled for the most part.

I'm no expert on the matter but throwing in an opinion. If the slave is working when the car is off, it should also be working while the car is on.

My guess is the problem lies in the trans where the internals are now spinning around because the car is on.

I'm no expert in how the mechanics in the tranny work outside of flywheel/clutch, so someone with more expertise can jump in.

Something is not right with your Pressure Plate/Throw-out bearing, or Disc. I had a client that had this problem, ended up being the Disc was installed backwards. Most people say it can't happen...uh, I've seen it. Does the clutch pedal come back after you depress it? Or is it super stiff? If it comes back after you depress it, then the slave should be fine. I would look at the TOB and make sure that is the correct length.

I'm using the TOB that came with the kit, which I am assuming is the correct one. Is there any way to tell for sure? How would I verify that the TOB is correct? (it looked like everything in this photo: https://www.ecstuning.com/ES2828975/)

Don't think I the disc could be backwards. I remember seeing an engine side sticker on the face. And also wouldnt the springs on the disk prevent it from being installed backwards?

The clutch seems a bit soft, and doesnt feel exactly like my friends S4 (which has the exact same setup)

Thank you guys for the input.

Here's a zoomed in photo of the TOB I found of the parts before I installed. Sorry for the horrible quality but maybe someone can tell if its the correct TOB?

I had a similar situation. Turned out one of the metal teeth from the pressure plate (I think) broke off...mine was the original though.

rebled the clutch for the 9 millionth time.
started car -> revved it to 2k -> push in clutch -> doesnt immediately drop to idle.

going to replace the slave to see if it fixes it.
