HELP! Bent Wheels and Other Problems

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
On my way to my tire change appointment this morning to put on my winter treads, I rounded a corner (clearly too fast) and slid across the snow covered pavement hard into a curb. I damaged both my driver side rims, both to the point that they need to be replaced. The car is at the shop right now. Currently looking into getting some new (or used) rims, but I'm really not too optimistic that that is the only problem. I'm fearing the worst (screwed alignment and bent frame?), and hoping for the best (just replace rims).

Has anyone else experienced this unfortunate situation? I feel so dumb for allowing this to happen to my car, and I can't stop thinking about the problem.

B8 S4 on OEM 18" rims... was on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 at the time of the incident.

UPDATE: The rims are bent to shit and need to be replaced. However, there seems to be no other damage to the frame or surrounding parts. Just a matter of buying two matching rims, getting them powder coated to match, and an alignment. Then hopefully should be all good. Thanks to everyone for the help! Much appreciated!

id get an alignment done, that will tell you if anything is really messed up if they cannot properly align the car.

It's currently in the shop for one, just waiting on the call now. What is the worst case scenario that you think that I will face?

Without pictures or anything it is kinda hard to tell you what the worst case is. But I assume we could all guess the same that the worst case is obviously a bent frame.

Not sure how this works in Canada, but perhaps you could file a claim with your insurance co.

I think the suspension components would break/bend before the frame did.

    Sucks.
This is the second thread in 2 days of someone running those same tires sliding on ice or snow. The other one totaled his car though... so consider yourself lucky.

If I were you I'd buy a dedicated set of sudless ice and snow tires off tire rack - wheels and tire combo. Throw those on now...
Then over the winter spend some time and find a new set of summer wheels/tires.

Pilot Sport A/S's are good summer tires - I consider them summer tires... I'd never run em in the winter though... but if you're driving beyond the capabilities of the tires this can happen too regardless of what rubber you're running.

Chin-up mate - your car will be fixed.
