    OEM Vs Aftermarket Wheel weights

    Hello Forum,

As some of you might have seen in my other thread I'm a new A6 owner and already have begun modding the car. I'm looking at wheels but I'm having a hard time finding the weight of the stock 18x8 wheels and those of some of the ones I'm looking to replace it with. I don't want to reduce performance with adding heavy wheels to the car. Anyone have a link or any resources on oem rotor wheels, peelers, etc. Thanks.

I measured my stock 18x8 speedlines with the original (but worn to 6/32) conti pro contact rubber at 49.8 lb.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking for a 19 x 8.5 setup that is close to or lighter than the OEM set up, any ideas?

I just put on a set of 19 inch Hartmans replacing my OEM 18 inch wheels. Not sure of the exact weight difference but I could defiantly notice the weight reduction.

Why would any weight reduction cause you to DEFIANTLY notice?? <in a whiney voice> "I don't want to notice it; I DONT!!" Damn auto-correct!! JK

IIRC Hartman reps are in the same ball park as OEM wheels of the same design. If you want to reduce weight, moving from a cast wheel to a forged wheel will save weight as it takes more material in a cast wheel to achieve the same strength as a forged wheel. Unfortunately, moving into forged wheels increases $$.

You have any idea on how heavy the stock 19" oem Audi wheels weight? For what I am seeing going from 18" to 19" is going to add weight. The tires alone weigh 3 LBS more going from 245-40-18 to 255-35-19 so I'm not sure how afone says he feels the weight reduction? Unless I'm wrong and the stock 19s weight less than 18s?

    OEM Vs Aftermarket Wheel weights

I have a 19"X8.5 OEM wheel with 255/35/19 tire mounted that I can weigh and report back.

Thank you for the info. So I'm thinking the wheels probably weigh about 29Lbs a rim. Any idea if the rotors or peelers weigh more or less?
