first post / help me!! / some 'shops i've done

I was introduced to this site by R490, from another forum - OPPOsite Lock. I just picked up my Allroad last weekend and I'm not wasting any time diving in to some work. The guy I bought it from, bought it from auction. He knew nothing, so I know nothing. I don't even have the owners manual. So my first question, does anyone know where I could find a downloadable owners manual?

I also dont have the key to the roof rack. I wanted to move the second crossbar back as far as possible but today notices there are dimples where its supposed to be. Does anyone know if you can move it back without damaging the roof as the weight would be distributed differently? Does anyone know what the crossbar manufacturer is? The dealer wanted $170 to replace the cylinders, but someone on another forum suggested trying a bike shop and it could possible be done for a fraction of that. they might even be able to just match a key.

My first project was to replace one of the fog light bulbs. No major project but interesting none the less and a good intro into German design. Once seeing a video on how to do it, it wasn't bad. I first looked under the bumper expecting the housing to be right there and there was a whole mess of other stuff instead. I also believe I am missing a large plastic shield that makes oil changes extra fun.

Tomorrow I pick up one of the rear suspension air bags. It has a small leak and will deflate over night. when I made my offer on the price, he agreed, but he wouldn't fix the leak, so I asked if he could at least provide the part and he agreed to that. Any advice I could get on how to do that would be a big help for next weekend.

I'll also do an oil change fairly soon as it didn't look very fresh and I'd like to have a good starting point. What do you guys use for oil? I do some mixed driving - back roads, and highway with some traffic here and there on the way do work. Its about 15 miles but takes anywhere from 20-40 minutes and its finally starting to get colder around here (southern suburbs of Boston.

    and some stuff i've done:

Rotella T6 seems to be the prevailing favorite since 5W40 can be hard to find.

Any manufacturer with proper certifications is okay.

My oil analysis came back cleaner after moving from T6 to Lubro Moly Leighlauf High Tech.

Congrats and welcome! Looks pretty clean from the pics, what are your plans for it?

initially just to keep it on the road and getting me to work and back. I know nothing of the history so i'd like to do the timing belt at some point, maybe once it gets warm again. I'd need some detailed instructions / videos on how to do such a thing. Once I get my architectural Licence I think I'll treat myself to an exhaust. If I decide to keep it for the long run, I'll probably up grade the turbos or something to make it not-slow-as-hell. I had a WRX before this so its a big change.
