Do I need AWE down pipes?

I want the AWE touring exhaust for my 2010 S5 6MT.

Should I get down pipes? If so, resonated or non resonated?

depends. do you want a loud car?

    awe touring is tamed
awe touring with res dp, might as well keep it stock
awe touring with non res dp, prob comparable to track
    awe track is a monster
awe track with non res dp is a brutal monster, which is what everyone needs <3

Touring with non-res in an excellent combo. Probably the best overall note, and you get PLENTY of noise when you request it.

Thinking about picking up some used Touring mufflers to swap into the Track exhaust i bought last year - I have the non-res DPs in my garage.. I just want to cut out some of the highway drone.

Think that adding in the touring mufflers and non-res DPs would cut that back?

I got a rs and got non res dps. If you want a louder and more tone, get them for sure. I love mine.

Pretty sure you still have the option to buy w/o the downpipes and see how you like it, and within some window (90 days?) decide if you want to buy the downpipes at the "package" pricing - i.e. you don't have to buy the downpipes without listening to the touring system w/stock pipes to maintain the option to get the package pricing.

I love my 3.0T system with the resonated downpipes - I removed them a while back and went to the stock downpipes while I was getting replacement AWE downpipes - and the sound volume wasn't that much different, a little louder and a bit more intrusive at steady state, but the overall tone/sound was more to my liking with the resonated pipes vs. stock downpipes. I have no regrets having spent the extra for the whole system.

That said - you can swap downpipes with the rest of the system installed - so I'd suggest getting the system w/o downpipes and see how you like it, then if you want it louder/more raw get the non-res, or if you want it a bit more refined/exotic (IMO) sounding and very slightly quieter - get the resonated DP's.

Either way it's a big improvement over stock on the 3.0T.
